Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Who sings the line, "He not busy being born is busy dying"?

Answer: Bob Dylan

This is from "It's Alright, Ma".
2. Who sings the line, "In a gadda da vida, honey Don't you know that I'm lovin' you In a gadda da vida, baby Don't you know that I'll always be true"?

Answer: Iron Butterfly

This song was originally "In the Garden of Eden," but during its recording, the lead singer was slurring the lyrics so much it sounded like, "In a gadda da vida." They decided that they liked it and it stuck!
3. Who sings, "And the people bowed and prayed, to the neon god they made"?

Answer: Simon and Garfunkel

This is from "The Sound of Silence."
4. Who sings, "But of all these friends and lovers, there is no one compares with you. And these memories lose their meaning when I think of love as something new"?

Answer: The Beatles

"In My Life" is an amazing song from The Beatles 1965 album, "Rubber Soul". Incidentally, my husband and I used this song in our wedding. It has much sentimental value to us.
5. Who sings a song about a little surfing girl?

Answer: The Beach Boys

The Beach Boys sang "Surfer Girl." The B-Side to this single was "Little Duece Coupe."
6. The Doors sing the lyrics, "The time to hesitate is through. No time to wallow in the mire. Try now we can only lose, and our love become a funeral pyre," in the song, "Touch Me".

Answer: False

These lyrics come from "Light My Fire".
7. Who sings,"The warden threw a party in the county jail. The prison band was there and they began to wail"?

Answer: Elvis Presley

This was for Elvis's third movie.
8. "Kashmir" is a song performed by Led Zeppelin.

Answer: True

All of the members of Led Zeppelin have said that they think this was their best song.
9. Who sings a song about a young man named Bobby McGee?

Answer: Janis Joplin

Janis sings this song written by Kris Kristofferson.
10. Who sings the lines, "When the jester sang for the king and queen, in a coat he borrowed from James Dean, and a voice that came from, you and me"?

Answer: Don McLean

This is from the song "American Pie". I included Bob Dylan and the Rolling Stones as answers because there is much debate over who the Jester in the song is. Some say Dylan while others say it is Mick Jagger. I personally think it is Jagger as other lines seem to refer to him as well.
