1. Which of the following groups was led by Frankie Valli?

Answer: The Four Seasons

The Four Seasons, with their signature doo wop style, were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1990. Their number one hits were "Sherry" and "Big Girls Don't Cry" in 1962, "Walk Like a Man" in 1963, "Rag Doll" in 1964 and "December, 1963 (Oh, What a Night)" in 1975. None of the other choices had as many big hits, but American bubblegum pop group 1910 Fruitgum Company hit number four with "Simon Says" and number five with "1, 2, 3, Red Light" and "Indian Giver" in the late 60s. The British invasion group The Dave Clark Five hit Number One in the U.S. with "Over and Over" in 1965 but seem to be remembered most for 1964's "Glad All Over," which topped out at number six.

The one-hit wonder group The First Class was formed by songwriter/producer John Carter.

The hit, "Beach Baby," similar in style and subject matter to the Beach Boys, was sung by Tony Burrows, who fronted several studio groups with such hits as "Love Grows (Where My Rosemary Goes)" by Edison Lighthouse and "My Baby Loves Lovin'" by White Plains.
2. Which band recorded the 1970s hit song "Ooh Child"?

Answer: Five Stairsteps

"Ooh Child" was the only big hit for the Chicago group Five Stairsteps, which was made up of six siblings, and it is listed at number 392 on Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. Although "Ooh Child" charted much higher at number eight on the pop chart, the biggest hit for the Connecticut group The Five Satins, "In the Still of the Night," which only reached number 24 on the pop charts, ranks higher on Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Songs of All Time, at number 90.

The Four Tops, one of Detroit's biggest Motown groups, and the Jackson 5, from Gary, Indiana, which featured young Michael Jackson, both had many hit singles.

The Four Tops "I Can't Help Myself (Sugar Pie Honey Bunch)" and "Reach Out I'll Be There" both hit number one.

The Jackson 5 had four number one hits, "I Want You Back," "ABC," "The Love You Save," and "I'll Be There."
3. Which band hails from Ireland?

Answer: U2

Their accolades include induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, winning more Grammys than any other band, and being ranked number 22 on Rolling Stone's list of the 100 greatest artists of all time. Three Dog Night was a very American rock band of the early 1970s with multiple hits including three U.S. number ones, "Mama Told Me Not to Come" (1970), "Joy to the World" (1970), and "Black and White" (1972). Their only hit single was "Sex Shooter" in 1984. L7 was a female punk/grunge band from L.A. Their 1992 single "Pretend We're Dead," from their "Bricks are Heavy" album produced by Butch Vig, reached number eight on the U.S.

The band's chart successes were with "Love Shack" in 1989 and "Roam" in 1990, both from the "Cosmic Thing" album, which both reached number three on the U.S. charts.

This was following the tragic loss of Ricky, brother of the B52s' Cindy Wilson. London's dance band Soul II Soul reached number four on the U.S. chart and number one on the U.S. Dance chart with "Back to Life (However Do You Want Me)" in 1989 and also won a Grammy for the song, as well as for an instrumental on the same record.
