The first Broadway production of "Hello Dolly" starred Carol Channing in the title role. Other stars followed her, and the movie version starred Barbra Streisand. The production I saw starred the wonderful Mary Martin.

"Kiss Me Kate", and was first recorded by Doris Day in 1950.

Cole Porter had an interesting life and this life was the basis for two films, "Night and Day" (1946) starring Cary Grant, and "De-Lovely" starring Kevin Kline. "Night and Day" was not very true to the life of Porter, probably because it had restrictions about telling the truth about his homosexuality.
"De-Lovely" was a truer depiction.
