Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Name the song this line is from: "Did you have any bad dreams, did you break any glass. Would you be my companion, is there even a chance?"

Answer: Never Been Any Reason

This tune is often referred to as "Save My Life (I'm going down for the last time)". Head East is the band responsible for this tune, which is probably the only one from them you'll hear on the radio. It is a classic tune and showed promise for this southern rock band, but we never heard anything else from them. By the way, my hint is the name of the album.(1975)
2. "You got it all in the palm of your hand, but your hand's wet with sweat and your head needs a rest..." Name that hit from Styx this lyric is from.

Answer: Fooling Yourself

From the "Grand Illusion", a great effort from Styx. This album also includes the title cut, "Man In The Wilderness", "Superstar", etc...(1977)
3. See if you know what Bob Seger tune this line is from: "I looked in Miami, I looked in Negril, the closest I came was a month-old bill."

Answer: Sunspot Baby

From the "Night Moves" LP. Those guys nailed this one; the whole thing is jammed with great tunes: "Rock and Roll Never Forgets", "Fire Down Below", "Mainstreet", "Come to Papa". Lend it to your ears...(1976)
4. "...So I tucked my hair up under my hat and I went in to ask him why. He said you look like a fine, upstanding young man, I think you do! So I took off my hat, I said 'imagine that, huh, me working for you?'" OK, who performed this originally?

Answer: Five Man Electrical Band

Great song, man. Yeah, I know, Tesla did an excellent job covering this classic, but I was looking farther back. I like both versions, but like Bullwinkle says, "nothing beats the classics, I always say".(1971)
5. "Wake up in the morning, see your sunrise-loves-to go down. Lousy lovers pick their prey but they never cry out loud." This line is from a song which is off of one of the highest-selling LP's in rock history. Name that tune.

Answer: Gold Dust Woman

"Rumors", the quintessential collection from Fleetwood Mac. It continues to be among the top-selling albums of all time, keeping such company with The Eagles ("Greatest Hits") and Pink Floyd ("The Dark Side Of The Moon"). Other notable songs from "Rumors" are "The Chain", "You Make Lovin' Fun", "Don't Stop", and "Dreams".(1977)
6. "In your head is the answer let it guide you along. Let your heart be the anchor and the beat of your song." This lyric is from what Rush song?

Answer: Something For Nothing

"2112", science-fiction with a heavy-metal twist. This was Rush's breakthrough release and has an interesting blend of music. The title track covered a whole album side by itself! The album also includes "Passage To Bangkok", "Tears", and "Lessons".(1976)
7. "Well the bigger the city, the brighter the lights. Bigger the dog the harder the bite. I don't know where you been last night but I figure, mama, you ain't doin' right." A Skynyrd song, ya'll.

Answer: I Know A Little

This Bluegrass boogie woogie is from "Street Survivors", an interesting blend of music. Not just a personal favorite, but in my opinion their best. (We miss you Ronnie, Cassie, and Steve.)(1977)
8. And now, a line from a Zeppelin song: "I felt the coldness of my winter, I never thought it would ever go. I cursed the gloom that set upon us but I know that I love you so."

Answer: The Rain Song

Off of "Houses Of The Holy", the best of Led Zeppelin can be found on most any of their LP's, but this one is my favorite. Also featured on this album are "The Ocean", "Dancing Days", "No Quarter", and "D'yer Mak'er".(1973)
9. "When they turn the pages of history when these days have passed long ago, will they read of us with sadness for the seeds that we let grow?" Name the Rush song this line is from.

Answer: A Farewell to Kings

The title track from Rush's fifth studio album. This is an excellent effort from Rush, including the ever-popular "Closer To The Heart". The album also includes "Cygnus X-1," "Xanadu", and "Cinderella Man".(1977)
10. This one is from the Heart: "Back over Time when we were all trying for free met up with the porpoise and me. No right no wrong you're selling a Song- a name whisper game."

Answer: Barracuda

This smokin' tune refers to a former manager the band once had. This song is from the LP "Little Queen". Also included on this one are "Kick It Out" and "Love Alive".(1977)
