Previously recorded versions of this song by the likes of Roosevelt "Honey Dripper" Sykes as well as Big Bill Broonzy have slightly different lyrics, with the only similarity being the lines "Because night time is the right time, to be with the one you love, with the one you love".

The song has been recorded amongst others, by Ray Charles in 1958, Creedence Clearwater Revival in 1969 and even James Brown in 1983.
