The Lusitania was torpedoed during World War I by the German Submarine U-20. Audrey was saved, along with her parents, by her nursemaid Alice Lines. Audrey passed away in January 2011 at age 95.

Audrey Munson appeared in the film "Inspiration", the story of a sculptor's model. Censors decided to not ban the film, as all Renaissance art would be subject to the cutting room floor next if they crossed that line. Tragically, her life spun into depression.

She attempted to take her own life by mercury poisoning in 1922, but that left her paranoid and mentally ill, a state she stayed in for 65 more years until her death at age 105. She was the model for numerous statues, at least ten of which still stand today in New York City.
