The 11-year-old Grace Bedell, a resident of Westfield Chautauqua County, New York, wrote to candidate Lincoln saying that she would very much like him to be elected and urged him to grow a beard because his appearance would be better as he had a very thin face.

She also wrote that women liked bearded men and would press their husbands to vote for him. Lincoln replied to the letter and, as we can see in his following pictures, he followed her advice.

A month before he was shot dead driving a Ford V8 Clyde Barrow wrote a letter to Henry Ford saying that the car was the best car had ever driven and though he had committed crimes he didn't see problem in sending the letter praising the car.

Answer: Alfred Hitchcock.

When very young Alfred Hitchcock did something that made his father very angry. Instead of punishing him, the father wrote a note and sent the boy to deliver it in the police station. The policeman read a note and locked the boy in a cell. Hitchcock said that he was very very frightened. Five minutes later he was released. On the note was written: "this is what we do to naughty boys". Nobody knows if this story is true but the moviemaker liked to tell it in interviews.
