Alex Lowe had many nicknames, one of the most bizarre was 'the lung with legs', given to him by a rival climber after his solo ascent of Aconcagua while carrying heavy loads. Perhaps the most flattering thing said of him, was that if you brought him along on a first climb you would be cheating.
