Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. How does Ezekiel describe the taste of what he ate in Ezekiel 3:3 in the KJV?

Answer: as honey for sweetness

Ezekiel 3:3 And he said unto me, Son of man, cause thy belly to eat, and fill thy bowels with this roll that I give thee. Then did I eat it; and it was in my mouth as honey for sweetness."

Ezekiel is one of the major prophets. His name means "God will strengthen." (Holman Illustrated Pocket Bible Dictionary).
2. What three things does God say the evil abominations of House of Israel will fall by?

Answer: sword, famine, pestilence

Ezekiel 6:11 Thus saith the Lord GOD; Smite with thine hand, and stamp with thy foot, and say, Alas for all the evil abominations of the house of Israel! for they shall fall by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence.

At this time the Jews have been facing exile and many are being destroyed by the Babylonians.
3. How many men came from the higher gate?

Answer: 6

Ezekiel 9:2 "And, behold, six men came from the way of the higher gate, which lieth toward the north, and every man a slaughter weapon in his hand; and one man among them was clothed with linen, with a writer's inkhorn by his side: and they went in, and stood beside the brazen altar."

According to John Gill's Exposition of the Entire Bible it was called the higher gate because it was above the court of Israel (http://www.freegrace.net/gill/Ezekiel/Ezekiel_9.htm)
4. How many times does the word "prophesy" appear in Ezekiel 13:2 in the KJV?

Answer: 3

Ezekiel 13:2 "Son of man, prophesy against the prophets of Israel that prophesy, and say thou unto them that prophesy out of their own hearts, Hear ye the word of the LORD."

A prophesy is a forth-telling. It comes from the Greek word prophéteía.
5. What chapter is Ezekiel contains the parable of the two eagles?

Answer: Chapter 17

The two "eagles" in this parable represent Babylon and Egypt. http://www.growingchristians.org/dfgc/edevo/eagles.html
6. What does Chapter 24:17 tell us not to cover in the King James Version?

Answer: thy lips

Ezekiel 24:17 "Forbear to cry, make no mourning for the dead, bind the tire of thine head upon thee, and put on thy shoes upon thy feet, and cover not thy lips, and eat not the bread of men."

Ezekiel here is being told he needs to make things right with the Lord. He has lost his wife and that has been hard on him, but he knows he needs to do what the Lord wants him to do.
7. What two cities are mentioned in Ezekiel 30:17?

Answer: Aven and Pibeseth

Ezekiel 30:17 "The young men of Aven and of Pibeseth shall fall by the sword: and these cities shall go into captivity."

Aven means "wickedness". Pibeseth means means "house of Bastet". It is about 45 minutes NE of Cairo, Egypt.
8. In Ezekiel 37:6 what does God tell the dry bones He will lay upon them in the King James Version?

Answer: sinews

Ezekiel 37:6 "And I will lay sinews upon you, and will bring up flesh upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and ye shall live; and ye shall know that I am the LORD."

Sinews are tendons and tissues that connect muscles to bones.
9. Where does it say Gog would be buried?

Answer: Valley of Hamongog

Ezekiel 39:11 "And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will give unto Gog a place there of graves in Israel, the valley of the passengers on the east of the sea: and it shall stop the noses of the passengers: and there shall they bury Gog and all his multitude: and they shall call it The valley of Hamongog."

Gog is very much anti-God and considered a very evil man. Hamongog means "horde of Gog".
10. What is the last word of Ezekiel in the King James Version?

Answer: there

Ezekiel 48:35 "It was round about eighteen thousand measures: and the name of the city from that day shall be, The LORD is there."

Christians believe that Ezekiel is prophesying the end times and in this verse in particular Heaven.

I hope you enjoyed this quiz. My next quiz will be on the last of the major prophets: Daniel.
