Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. According to I Kings 21 (KJV), how did Jezebel succumb to her death?

Answer: Pushed from a window and eaten by dogs

Jezebel was the daughter of Ethbaal, the king of Sidon. She was the wife of King Ahab. According to I Kings 21:23, God told Jezebel she would be eaten by dogs outside the city walls of Jezreel. God's word came true in 2 Kings 9, when Jehu had Jezebel thrown from a window and dogs attacked her body. Revelation 2:20 referred to Jezebel as an evil woman.
2. While aiming to kill as many Philistines as he could in Judges 16 (KJV), did Samson also kill himself when he knocked down a building that housed over three thousand Philistines?

Answer: Yes

Samson was the son of Manoah. Samson's strength was connected to his long hair. One day he met a woman named Delilah while passing through Sorek. Delilah was working with the Philistines to capture Samson. While Samson was with Delilah one night, he told her the truth of his strength so Delilah shaved his hair. Delilah's act made Samson vulnerable to an attack by the Philistines.

They blinded Samson and threw him in prison. One day while bored, the Philistines called Samson out to entertain them. Sitting between two pillars, Samson collapsed the building he and the Philistines were in by pushing the pillars down. Samson killed more than three thousand people when he pushed down the building.

The action also resulted in Samson's death. He was buried between the cities of Zorah and Eshtaol where his father was also buried.

Answer: David

Uriah was a Hittite married to Bathsheba. After David found out that Bathsheba was pregnant with his child, he sent word to Joab, his right hand man, to have Uriah put at the front lines of the battlefield. One night during a party, King Ahasuerus promised Queen Esther that she could have anything she wanted.

Absalom was the third son of David and Maachah. His hair was known to be long and weighed five pounds. While he was riding against his father's men, Absalom's hair became wrapped around a tree branch and he was stuck. One of David's men, Joab, came along, found Absalom hung in the tree, and stabbed him to death. King David had put out a notice earlier in the fighting that Absalom was not to be hurt.
