Sunderland were formed as Sunderland and District Teachers' Association Football Club in 1879, but just a year later changed to Sunderland AFC.
2. Where did Sunderland first call their home ground?

Sunderland played at Blue House Field between 1879-82, then moved to Grove's Field for one year. Horatio Street were their next home between 1882-84, followed by Abb's Field (1883-86), and Newcastle Road between 1895-98. The club spent 100 years at Roker Park, before moving to the Stadium of Light in 1997.
3. Who was Sunderland's first manager in their history?

Answer: Tom Watson

Watson was Sunderland manager between 1888-96, followed by Campbell until 1899, Mackie (1899-1905), and Kyle (1905-28). Other Sunderland managers include Lawrie McMenemy, Bob Stokoe, Terry Butcher, and Howard Wilkinson.
