The Bulldogs fisrt appearance in the NCAA tourney was an 87-63 defeat by Maryland in the 1995 NCAA's. A three-year tourney drought was ended in style by the Zags, who advanced all the way to the Elite 8 as a 10th seed, before falling to Connecticut. A Sweet 16 run was ended by Michigan State in 2001.

A selection commitee travesty gave the Zags a sixth seed in 2002 and a first round date with a dangerous Wyoming squad, which they lost 73-66. Most recently, they were involved in the most memorable game of the 2003 tourney, losing to Arizona, 96-95 in 2 overtimes.

They are a member of the West Coast Conference.

He led the Zags to a 29-3 regular-season record his senior year. He was drafted late in the first round and then traded to the Atlanta Hawks.
