The event that happened right before his 1st race suspension was an on track incident between his truck and Coy Gibbs truck during a Nascar Truck series race. After being black flagged, Kevin parked his truck right in front of the Nascar trailer. It marked only the second time in history that Nascar suspended a driver from a Winston Cup event.

The scuffle with Greg Biffle also occured in 2002, but it happened several days before the truck race incident.
