Princeton University was founded in 1746 under its original name of the College of New Jersey. The Tigers have enjoyed considerable success on the lacrosse field, with the men's team winning six NCAA titles between 1992 and 2001, and the women's squad triumphing three times between 1994 and 2003.

Franco Harris was born in Fort Dix in 1950, and attended high school in Mount Holly before playing collegiate football at Penn State. The won their first Stanley Cup in 1995, defeating the Red Wings 4-0. A second triumph followed in 2000 when the Stars were vanquished 4-2; a third Cup was won in 2003 when the Ducks were defeated 4-3. In 2007, the Devils moved to a new arena in Newark.

Walcott was dethroned as champion the following year by Rocky Marciano.
