Despite a difficult 2013-14 season, Sam Allardyce received the backing of the owners in the summer and continue into the new season as manager. He was appointed manager in the summer of 2011, after they finished last in the FA Premier League and were relegated to the Football League Championship (replacing Avram Grant).
