Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. At the beginning of the episode, Jimmy stopped by the Sandpiper retirement home to see his old client, Irene Landry. He was actually there to find out the status of the class action lawsuit, but what item did he bring her as an excuse for stopping by?

Answer: Cat cookies

Jimmy said that he had baked the cookies himself and that he decided to bring some to Irene because they looked like her cat: "That looks just like your Felix". In reality, he had bought the cookies, and he repackaged them on a paper plate after he pulled into the Sandpiper parking lot. Jimmy actually was there to see if Irene had received an offer yet on the class action lawsuit against Sandpiper.

She was the class representative and could elect to accept any settlement offer. Jimmy was interested because he was entitled to twenty percent of the common fund of the settlement. Irene showed him the documents relating to the lawsuit, and when he saw the settlement offer, his eyes popped: "You haven't accepted this?" Irene told him that Erin from Davis and Main told her to wait.

When Irene's friends showed up to get her for chair yoga, Jimmy greeted them: "Rose, Myrtle, Helen! That chair yoga really works. You all look ten years younger" - a brief glimpse of the caring Jimmy McGill we knew from the earlier seasons.

As he was leaving, Jimmy did the math in his head, realizing that his share of the settlement offer would be $1.16 million.
2. In the last episode, Mike had approached Gus Fring for help with getting his money laundered. What solution was presented to Mike in this episode?

Answer: Work as a consultant for Madrigal

Gus had arranged for Mike to work as a consultant for Lydia Rodarte-Quayle at Madrigal. As Lydia explained to Mike: "You'll receive a paycheck from Madrigal in the amount of $10,000 a week - I believe at that rate your employment should be paid out in about twenty weeks." Lydia had listed Mike's job as a logistics consultant, but Mike suggested that security consultant would make more sense since he used to be a police officer. Mike was concerned about having his name on the Madrigal books: "Your Madrigal is a German company. One thing I know about Germans is they love a good audit".

When he asked if this was how she handled "Fring's other guys", she told him that this was the first time she had done this, but she explained that she handled a budget of around a million dollars a week: "All due respect, Mike, but your money - it's a rounding error".

When Mike told her that she was "risking a lot for a drug dealer", Lydia responded, "Drug dealer? If that's all you think he is, you don't know Gustavo Fring".
3. Howard and Chuck met with representatives of the malpractice insurance company who wanted to double the premiums on all of the practicing attorneys at the firm. How did the meeting end?

Answer: Chuck threatened to sue the insurance company.

The insurance company representatives told Howard and Chuck that they were going to double the premiums on all of the practicing attorneys in the firm as a result of Chuck's appearance at the Bar hearing and for other reasons (on which they didn't elaborate), but they mentioned the possibility of extending a rider that would keep premiums at the same rate as long as a "senior management-level partner... would supervise Charles' work, attend court and client meetings with him, review filings..." Howard balked at this option since HHM wouldn't be able to bill the additional hours to their clients.

Then Chuck interrupted the discussion, telling the reps that the insurance company would either "do right by us or we will compel you to do so". Howard threw a quick glance at Chuck when he made the comment. One of the insurance reps said that "if you're threatening litigation then I'm afraid this meeting is over", and when Chuck confirmed that he was, they left.

After they left, Chuck eagerly began to formulate HHM's plan of action against the insurance company, but Howard didn't agree with Chuck's plan.
4. After the insurance representatives left the meeting at HHM, what did Howard ask Chuck to do?

Answer: Retire

Howard told Chuck about a former attorney who was now teaching at the University of New Mexico and who wanted Chuck to come speak to his students. When Chuck asked why Howard was mentioning this, Howard said, "What I'm saying is, maybe it's time to hang up your spurs. Become partner emeritus. Leave your name on the firm, but focus on your legacy". Chuck didn't take it well: "That day is far in the future, Howard, and I don't appreciate the suggestion". Howard replied, "What if it's not a suggestion?" Chuck thought Howard was trying to push him out because of his illness, so he tried to prove that he was better by grabbing one of the lights from the table and holding it up with a grimace on his face: "Howard, I'm fine". "This is not what fine looks like", responded Howard. Howard then spelled it out: "Chuck, you are the best legal mind I have ever known, hands down, but your decision-making has become unpredictable, and I can't be partners with someone whose judgement I don't trust".

Chuck later sent Howard a letter informing him that he (Chuck) would be suing HHM for breach of contract. Howard went to Chuck's house to confront him, and Chuck had the electricity turned on to prove he was better, and he was cooking at the stove as a demonstration. Chuck told him that it was his (Chuck's) firm; he had built it: "Your father was working in a two-room office when I joined him, and you, I tutored for the Bar exam. You're not kicking me out". Chuck said that if Howard wanted him to leave, then Howard had to buy Chuck out for $8 million, and Chuck knew the firm didn't have the money. "You'd rather tear down HHM than retire?" asked Howard. Chuck was using an immersion blender when Howard walked out, and as soon as Howard shut the door, Chuck dropped the blender. He immediately went back to his mindfulness techniques: "Blue pot, red wine, black burner".
5. After Jimmy discovered the amount of the settlement offer, he was desperate to get the offer accepted. With whom did he discuss the case in a parking garage, claiming to be concerned for the clients?

Answer: Howard

Jimmy was waiting for Howard in the HHM parking garage. He told Howard that they had business to discuss, and when Howard asked if it was about Chuck, Jimmy responded, "Who?" Jimmy then told him it was about Sandpiper and that he believed it was time to settle, but Howard said that they were waiting for a better offer. Jimmy pointed out that the clients would only get a small bit more by holding out and that the law firms were hurting the clients because they (the firms) would get a bigger fee. Howard saw through Jimmy's argument: "All you care about is your share of the payout.

It's like talking to Gollum - you're transparent and pathetic." He waved money in front of Jimmy since he believed Jimmy was looking for a handout: "Next time, why don't you bring a tin cup.

It would be more honest".
6. Nacho's plan to do away with Hector by switching his pills wasn't yet working, so Nacho had to warn his father that Hector would be taking over his shop. What was his father's response?

Answer: He told Nacho to get out of his house.

Hector and Gus received a call from Juan Bolsa who instructed Hector that the product would continue to move through Gus's operation because it had worked well and was less risky. Hector was fine with using Gus's operation when it was his own idea, but now that he was being told to do so, he wasn't happy.

He smashed the phone and then had an attack. To Nacho's surprise, Hector took the doctored pills and then seemed fine. Placebo effect perhaps? Anyhow, Nacho knew that Hector would use his (Nacho's) dad's business instead of following Bolsa's instructions, so Nacho warned his dad: "A man is going to come to your shop. Soon.

He'll want to run the place for a while. And you'll have to let him". When Nacho told him it was Hector Salamanca, his dad was visibly upset. Nacho said, "I know what you're thinking. You can scream at me, disown me, never speak to me again.

But whatever happens, you must do what he says". Nacho's dad then told him to get out of the house.
7. Jimmy decked himself out as a mall-walker to meet up with Irene. What item did he give her that he claimed he had bought for his girlfriend but that didn't fit her and he couldn't return?

Answer: Athletic shoes

Jimmy was wearing fancy athletic shoes and told Irene how wonderful they were. He then mentioned that he'd bought the same type of shoe for his girlfriend, but they didn't fit, and the store had a "No Refunds" policy, so he asked her what size shoe she wore.

He then went to his car where he had stashed every apparent size of the shoes. She loved the shoes but told Jimmy she couldn't take them for free. He said that there was one thing she could do for him: "Don't tell the other folks I gave them to you. I don't wanna look like I'm playing favorites".
8. What was Jimmy's nefarious plan to get Irene to accept the Sandpiper settlement offer?

Answer: Turn her friends against her

Jimmy's gift of the athletic shoes was part of his scheme to plant seeds of distrust with Irene's friends about the reason for the delay in accepting the settlement: "Maybe Irene just doesn't need the money. I don't know for a fact, but when you see someone buying nice new things... like those shoes. Those must have cost a pretty penny. I mean, if she could afford those, she must be walking on easy street." He attended chair yoga with the other women and continued his spiel, telling them there was nothing they could do to force the settlement - it was up to Irene.

The women began to alienate her, ignoring her when they went mall-walking.
9. What game was being played at the Sandpiper retirement facility when Irene broke down and cried?

Answer: Bingo

Jimmy was back at Sandpiper, serving as the Bingo master of ceremonies. When Irene came into the room, her friends ignored her, with one putting her purse on a seat so that Irene wouldn't sit there. Jimmy planned to have Irene win a game in record time to further irritate her friends.

He had injected magnetic primer in several Bingo balls to rig the game, and he then handed out Bingo cards to a few players, including a special one for Irene. Before Jimmy added the tainted balls to the bin, he briefly looked over at Irene sitting away from her friends; it looked like he had a brief twinge of conscience, but he went ahead and dumped the tainted balls into the mix.

When Irene won the game after only five numbers had been called, Jimmy said "C'mon let's hear it for Irene", and when no one applauded, Irene dropped her prize and ran from the room in tears. Jimmy ran after her and found her crying: "They've all turned on me".

When she said that "it's so cruel, and I don't even know why", Jimmy suggested that it might have something to do with the settlement - that they might need the money.

She asked Jimmy if she should settle, and he told her to "listen to her heart". Shortly after that, Jimmy showed up at his office with a bottle of Zafiro tequila and told Kim that the Sandpiper lawsuit was being settled.
10. Kim had two incidents with a particular type of machinery in this episode. The first occurred when she met with oilman Billy Gatwood at the Texas border and the other was in the last scene of the episode. What item was it?

Answer: A car

Early in the episode, Kim met with Billy Gatwood by the New Mexico/Texas border to discuss his case. When she went to leave, her car became stuck in the soft dirt, so she gathered some wood to place under the wheels and then rocked the car to get it moving. But her car rolled off without her, and she managed to jump in and stop it just before it crashed into an oilwell.

At the end of the episode, Kim was in a hurry to get to the meeting with the Gatwood stakeholders. Jimmy was irritated that she wouldn't pay attention to him while she was getting ready for the meeting. He wanted five minutes of her time, and when she said that she didn't have it, he ominously responded, "But you're already late. What's five more minutes? So drive 60 instead of 55". When Kim was on her way to the meeting, she was rehearsing her speech to the attendees while she drove. She then was quiet and appeared to be focusing on driving, but she must have fallen asleep because the airbag suddenly deployed, leaving her face bloodied. She got out of the car, clearly in pain, and found herself down an embankment off the side of a winding road. Her car had smashed into some boulders, her hatchback was open, and papers were strewn about the ground.

By the way, there was a Segway in this episode - one of the employees at Madrigal was riding one, which drew a bemused look from Mike.
