Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In Leg 3, teams flew to what Central Brazilian city?

Answer: Manaus

Starting Leg 3, teams were given a phone loaded with the Travelocity Mobile App and with it they could book their tickets to their next destination, the city of Manaus, Brazil, deep in the Amazon Rainforest in the middle of South America. Taking the eleven hundred mile flight southeast, teams arrived in the Jungle City and found their next clue waiting at a stall in Mercado Municipal Adolpho Lisboa.
2. Which of these items did teams not to purchase from a Brazilian market in Leg 3?

Answer: Bottled water

At Mercado Municipal Adolpho Lisboa, teams needed to collect a Portuguese shopping list from a local vendor and purchase a series of items including cassava root, a tipiti, two pairs of gloves, tucupi, two hammocks, tucumã peelings, a steel machete, cassava flour, ten hot peppers, a pirarucu filet, and a thermal bag. Once they had all of their items cleared, they could bring them to Balsa Laranja in the Port of Manaus, collect their next clue, and hop on a boat to the Dessana Village in the Amazon Rainforest.
3. Which of these Detour tasks, completed in Leg 3, was completed by more teams?

Answer: 'Well Done Please'

Getting to Dessana Village, teams could deliver all of their market items to the village chief and he would use a blowgun to shoot their Detour clue out of a tree. For this first Detour of the race, teams had to choose between 'Shelter From Trees' and 'Well Done Please'.

In 'Shelter From Trees', Riley and Maddison, DeAngelo and Gary, and Eswar and Aparna had to assist the locals in properly covering the roof of a new jungle house using tools purchased from the marker while in 'Well Done Please', all other teams used the foodstuffs purchased at the market to cook a three-course meal.
4. Two teams were U-Turned in Leg 3. One was Frank and Jerry; which was the other?

Answer: Leo and Alana

Completing their respective Detour tasks, teams were told to race on foot to the maloca, the longhouse on the nearby beach, where they would encounter the first Double U-Turn of the race. Here, Leo and Alana and Frank and Jerry were U-Turned by Will and James and Kaylynn and Haley respectively, forcing both teams to return to the village and complete the 'Shelter From Trees' task.

When they finished these, they could return to the U-Turn board and collect their next clue, rejoining the other teams on the course.
5. Which team was eliminated from the race in Brazil at the end of Leg 3?

Answer: Frank and Jerry

When teams passed the Double U-Turn, they were told to travel by riverboat along the Rio Negro to find the river cruise known as Barco Corrêa Filho. When they arrived they could board and check in at their third Pit Stop, also the place where they would be staying the night in their purchased hammocks. Will and James were the first to arrive at this Pit Stop, winning a trip for two to Bali, Indonesia courtesy of Travelocity.

It was Frank and James who placed last, held back not only by the Double U-Turn, but by forgetting their market items in Manaus.
6. Leg 4 flew teams to the capital city of Paraguay. How many teams were in the race at this point?

Answer: Eight

Disembarking from the Barco Corrêa Filho in Manaus in the beginning of Leg 4, teams opened their clues and flew fifteen hundred miles south to Asunción, Paraguay on a late-night flight, arriving for an early, but lengthy day in this South American capital. Upon landing, teams had to make their way to the landfill known as Cateura where they would be able to collect their next clue.
7. In Leg 4, who did not complete the cello-building Road Block task?

Answer: Hung

Reaching the home of the Orquesta de Reciclados de Cateura in Asunción, teams opened a Road Block clue and the selected team members needed to get crafty and 'instrumental'. There, at the city dump, participants needed to repurpose items from the landfill to build a cello to be used by the Landfill Philharmonic of Cateura. Once it was properly tuned, they could receive their next clue.

This task was completed by Maddison, Eswar, Leo, DeAngelo, Chee, James, Michelle, and Kaylynn.
8. Did any teams use the Yield in Paraguay in Leg 4?

Answer: No

Heading out from the Road Block, teams made their way to Asunción's Mercado 4 to find their Yield for this leg of the race. Ultimately, none of the teams elected to make use of it at this time. Once they moved on they could find the vendor selling tereré, Paraguay's national drink, and use a mortar and pestle to crush enough yerba mate to fill a termos. Teams were told to bring the termos with them through the rest of the leg to enjoy at their leisure, but once it was full, they could get their Detour clue.
9. Which Detour task found in Asunción was a Switchback, a task featured in a previous iteration of "The Amazing Race"?

Answer: Both

In the first-ever Double Switchback, teams had to contend with two tough tasks previously seen in "The Amazing Race 20". In 'Stack Your Melons', teams needed to make their way to Plaza O'Leary to assist local vendors in taking watermelons off a delivery stuck and stacking them in a square pyramid with a base of ten watermelons by ten watermelons.

In 'Use Your Melon', teams instead completed a choreographed Paraguayan bottle dance in Estacion Central del Ferrocarril without dropping their bottles. DeAngelo and Gary, Hung and Chee, and Riley and Maddison completed the former task while the other five teams completed the latter.
10. Which team was last to check into the race's fourth Pit Stop in Asunción, Paraguay?

Answer: Kaylynn and Haley

Once teams wrapped up their Detours they could proceed to their Pit Stop at Plaza Italia and find out where their standings shook out. Will and James took their second consecutive win of the race, landing on the mat in first and winning $5,000 USD each as a result of their successes. Though teams flip-flopped throughout the entirely leg, it was Kaylynn and Haley who stayed at the back of the pack.

When they checked in at the Pit Stop, they were greeted with non-elimination though they would need to face a Speed Bump in Leg 5.
