Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Kaylynn and Haley, faced with a Speed Bump in France in Leg 5, has to clean equipment for which of these?

Answer: Horses

A six thousand mile ride awaited teams in Leg 5 as they headed out from Asunción, Paraguay and flew across the Atlantic to Paris, France on one of two flights separated by only fifteen minutes. What they found upon landing was a self-drive leg as they needed to grab their standard Volkswagen Tiguans at the airport and drove to Domaine de Chantilly, north of Paris, to find their next clue.

Upon arriving in Chantilly, Kaylynn and Haley had to complete their Speed Bump, requiring that they clean riding gear for two of the Château's horses before continuing on with the race.
2. At La Musée Condé, how many partygoers did teams need to identify for their art-themed Road Block?

Answer: One

Reaching the Domaine de Chantilly, teams opened their clues to find a Road Block, and for this task teams had to have an eye for art. For this challenge, team members had to match one of the nine party-goers in a full room to their painting in the galleries of La Musée Condé. If they could properly associate one of the guests with the artist who depicted them, they could tell the curator and get their next clue. Riley, Alana, James, Hung, Aparna, Victoria, Gary, and Kaylynn completed this task.
3. Visiting a bakery in rural France in Leg 5, teams had to make which of these local food items?

Answer: Chantilly cream

Leaving the Château de Chantilly, teams had to travel on foot to Le Vertugadin in town to join local bakers in making Crème Chantilly. Whipping as fast as they could, they had to bring the cream to a consistency that prevented it from dripping out out of the bowls. If they could fill four pies with cream they could bring their pies to a nearby tent and trade them for their next clue.

The catch, however, was that in the tent they would be pelted with pies en route to the drop-off point.
4. At the Musée des Arts Forains, teams completed a Road Block that involved which of these?

Answer: Carnival games

Driving back into Paris, teams found their next clue at Musée des Arts Forains (and passed by the Yield, which went unused for another leg). Here, teams encountered a second Road Block task, one that had to be completed by the racer who did not complete the art challenge in Chantilly. For this challenge, Maddison, Leo, Chee, Will, Eswar, DeAngelo, Haley and Michelle needed to enter the museum and compete in three different fairground games (passe boule, the chamboule-tout, and the courses de chevaux). If they could successfully beat the games, then they'd get a clue as their prize.
5. Which team was eliminated in Paris, France at the end of Leg 5?

Answer: Michelle and Victoria

After the teams completed their second Road Block task they could rip open their clues and head to the fifth Pit Stop on the Pont des Arts pedestrian bridge. Here, overtop the Seine, teams could find Phil and take their mandatory rest period. Riley and Maddison led the entire leg, arriving to find that they won out over the other teams. For their victory, they received a trip for two, from Travelocity, sending them to Vietnam. Michelle and Victoria, who got lost on their way to the second Road Block, were passed by all remaining teams and checked in last.

They were eliminated in eighth place.
6. At the beginning of Leg 6, teams travelled from Paris to Berlin by which means?

Answer: Train

Starting Leg 6 at Place Vendôme, teams ripped open their clues in the middle of the night and were told to take the train from the French capital city to the city of Berlin, Germany, more than five hundred miles away. All seven remaining teams would end up equalized, taking the same ride to the German capital. Upon arrival teams could find their next clue in the city at the East Side Gallery, waiting for them in a symbolic, red and yellow marked briefcase.
7. In Berlin, teams needed to drive a Trabant. If their vehicle broke down, they could instead take which of these options?

Answer: Proceed on foot

Arriving in Berlin in the evening, teams found the Berlin Wall and their clue and were told to drive a Trabant, an iconic German vehicle made during the time of East Berlin, to their next destination, Berlin's Teledisko. If teams could find a way to get their car into gear, they could join some of the city's nightlife by entering a portable disco booth and dancing for three minutes. If they could keep up the pace for three minutes of party time, they would receive a photograph bearing their next clue.

As a note, if teams' cars broke down, they could either fix the vehicles themselves or run from destination to destination on foot.
8. The Road Block teams encountered in Leg 6 (in Berlin) was preceded by a Yield, but was it used?

Answer: No

Teams who received their Teledisko photo could drive their Trabants (if they could) to Andel's Hotel to find their Yield and, when they passed by this race mechanic, they could open the clue containing their Road Block task for this leg. In this task, one member was required to head to the roof (up fifteen storeys) and perform a harrowing face-first rappel down the side of the hotel while keeping their eyes peeled for ten flashing illuminated letters. If they could unscramble their mystery word (SAUERKRAUT) at the bottom, they could get their next clue.

Otherwise, they would need to start again. DeAngelo, Maddison, Hung, Will, Aparna, Leo, and Haley completed this task.
9. In Leg 6, which team did not complete the 'Belch It Out' Detour option in Berlin?

Answer: Leo and Alana

The last order of business, before teams headed to the Pit Stop in Leg 6, was the matter of the Detour, a choice this time between 'Belt It Out' and 'Belch It Out'. In the former, teams visited Ballhaus Berlin where, joining the Berlin Comedian Harmonists, teams had to learn the lyrics to the quick German tune "Ich wollt' ich wär' ein Huhn" (or "I Wish I Were a Chicken"). Teams choosing to 'Belch It Out' instead learned Bieryoga and instructed a class in completing four different poses. Hung and Chee, DeAngelo and Gary, and Riley and Maddison completed the latter task while all others did the chicken song and dance.
10. Which team was last to arrive at the sixth Pit Stop of the race in Berlin?

Answer: Kaylynn and Haley

When teams completed their Detour tasks they could travel by taxi and on foot to the streets of Neukölln to find their sixth Pit Stop. DeAngelo and Gary surpassed the other teams following the Road Block and maintained their lead to place first, winning themselves $7,500 USD each. Kaylynn and Haley trailed during the entirety of the leg and place last for the second time this race.

This said, they managed to hit a second non-elimination Pit Stop. They would face a Speed Bump in Leg 7, but would remain in the race.
