Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Teams started Leg 7 in what Canadian city?

Answer: Winnipeg

Starting Leg 7, teams needed to make their way to the airport in Winnipeg, Manitoba (racing from the intersection of Portage and Main) so that they could catch a flight to France and drive themselves to the town of Coquainvilliers in France's historic northwestern region-- Normandy. Once there, teams needed to locate the street in front of the Calvados Boulard Distillery to find their next clue box.
2. At the Road Block in Normandy, France, team members had to work with which beverage?

Answer: Brandy

At the Calvados Boulard Distillery, teams found their Road Block task and the selected member needed to grab a glass. Heading into the warehouse, they had to locate a barrel and take a sample. Then, they had to use proper tools and formulae provided via example to distill the beverage to an alcohol per volume level of 40%. Only when the math checked out would they receive their next clue. Meaghan, Pierre, Pete, Jinder, Audrey, and Ryan completed this task.
3. The 'Show It' Detour task in France in Leg 7 required that teams work with which animals?

Answer: Horses

Following the Road Block, teams found a Detour clue awaiting them in front of the Hotel de Ville in Le Molay-Littry. Their choice: 'Show It' or 'Tell It'. In 'Show It', teams needed to head to the Ferme Elevage de Nesque in Saon, France where both members had to work together to clean and French braid the mane of a horse. Sukhi and Jinder, Audrey and Alain, Mickey and Pete, and Ryan and Rob did this.

In 'Tell It', teams headed to the Musée de la Tapisserie de Bayeux to learn the story of the Bayeux Tapestry and properly tell a story with pictures of tapestry fragments, placing them in order to get their clue. Natalie and Meaghan and Pierre and Michel did this.
4. In Asnelles, France in Leg 7, teams took to the beach to participate in what activity?

Answer: Land sailing

After the Detour, teams drove to Asnelles to find their next task waiting on the beach. Here, after suiting up in protective gear, both members had to complete ten laps on a round course in the sand while riding in land-sailers, riding around using the wind to guide them. Once this was completed, teams could proceed to the Bény-sur-Mer Canadian War Cemetery where, after spending time amongst the graves of fallen Canadian WWII soldiers, they would be given further instruction.
5. Which team was last to arrive at the Pit Stop in France in Leg 7?

Answer: Ryan and Rob

After contemplating amongst the graves at the Bény-sur-Mer Canadian War Cemetery, teams were given a Lest We Forget card and told to deliver it to a soldier at the Juno Beach Centre in Courseulles-sur-Mer, France. The soldier would then direct teams to the beach proper to check in at the Pit Stop.

Here, Natalie and Meaghan reclaimed their first place position, arriving to win a trip for two to anywhere in Europe courtesy of Air Canada (and an additional $3,000). After getting lost too many times, Ryan and Rob ended up arriving in last but were, consequently, saved by a non-elimination leg.
6. In Leg 8, teams headed to what French city to complete their tasks?

Answer: Paris

Heading out from Bayeux, teams made their way to the train station and took one of two trains directly to Paris. Upon their arrival in this city they had to find their way to the world-famous Arc de Triomphe. The visit was a short one; teams were told to make their way by taxi through the streets of Paris to the Garden of New France in the Place du Canada. On the streets outside they would find their Detour clue waiting.
7. How many teams were U-Turned in France in Leg 8?

Answer: Two

For their Detour, teams could choose either 'Haute Couture' or 'Plat du Jour'. In the former, Audrey and Alain went to the Ecole de la Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne to pin an outfit on a bust form to match an original design. In the latter, the other five teams found three different cafes, ordered specific meals, and delivered them, reciting the orders in French, to diners in the Marais District. Following the task, teams raced on foot to the Double U-Turn mat at the Centre Georges Pompidou. Pierre and Michel forced Audrey and Alain to complete 'Plat du Jour' while Sukhi and Jinder made Ryan and Rob finish 'Haute Couture'.
8. The team completing the Speed Bump in France in Leg 8 had to learn which instrument?

Answer: Accordion

Arriving at the Centre Georges Pompidou (after completing their second Detour task, of course), Ryan and Rob located their Speed Bump task. For this, both of them had to learn the accordion and, in front of a crowd in this artistic city square, they had to perform "Au clair de la lune" at the same time. Once they did so successfully, they could continue on with the race.

In the meantime, teams headed to the next clue box at Pont de Grenelle on L'Île aux Cygnes.
9. In Leg 8 (in France), team members completing the Road Block had to use which of the following to recreate a work of art?

Answer: Mentos candy

Reaching Pont de Grenelle, teams found a Road Block task asking for one member who "likes candy". What followed was a task taking several hours to complete-- the selected member (Natalie, Michel, Sukhi, Pete, Audrey, Rob) had to recreate a colourful piece of art using Mentos candies in different colours to depict it. Once the judge of the artwork had approved of their piece, they could continue on. For some teams, this took upwards of eight hours.
10. Which team was eliminated in France in Leg 8?

Answer: Pierre and Michel

After the Road Block, the teams had to head down the Seine to the Pont de l'Archevêché where, looking over the bridge, they had to find Jon and the Pit Stop mat to check in. Natalie and Meaghan, who stayed ahead the entire leg, ended up checking in in first place again for their sixth win.

They won another trip for two to Europe courtesy of Air Canada, this time on Air Canada Rouge, and an additional $3,000. On the Pit Stop mat, fourth place team Audrey and Alain also got a win when Alain proposed to Audrey.

In the end, Pierre and Michel took too long to complete the Road Block and checked in in last place to find themselves eliminated.
