Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Ken Kirzinger, "The X-Files" stunt coordinator, had a small role in one of the episodes of season 1. What episode was he in?

Answer: Ice

Ken had a role in "Ice", where he played Richter - a scientist who infected by the worm and committed a suicide to stop the worm from spreading. One may notice that Ken is quite a large man (6'7 to be exact). He would go on to play Jason Voorhees in "Freddy vs Jason".
2. What is the name of David Duchovny's double, who joined the production team in season 2?

Answer: Steve Kiziak

Steve Kiziak was noticed on the streets of Vancouver by the series' location manager and, at first glance, mistaken for David Duchovny. After that, he was invited to work on the show, starting from the episode "2Shy". Kiziak played in scenes that did not require a close-up of Duchovny's face and was instrumental when it came to cutting production time as prep work was now easier and scenes with Mulder could be filmed simultaneously at different locations. E.g. in "2Shy", Kiziak is actually the one chasing Incanto at night.
3. Kate Twa played Detective Kelly Ryan in the episode "Soft Light", where she was reduced to pure energy by Tony Shalhoub's character's deadly shadow. Kate also starred in another episode of "The X-Files". What was that episode?

Answer: Gender Bender

Kate played a female version of brother Martin in "Gender Bender". On a scale from 1 to 10... a kind "3", per Michael (Nick Lea). I always wondered how she felt about that line.
4. "Soft Light" featured Kevin McNulty, who portrayed the two-faced friend of Chester Banton (Tony Shalhoub). McNulty also played in two other episodes of the show. What were these episodes?

Answer: "Squeeze" and "Apocrypha"

McNulty also portrayed agent Brian Fuller, who had a strong reaction to the results of Eugene Tooms' lie detector test in "Squeeze" (specifically, Mulder's 100-year old question). He played the same agent, who was tasked by Scully to guard Skinner in the hospital after the A.D. was shot by Luis Cardinal.
5. Lenno Britos, who portrayed Luis Cardinal, briefly appeared in another episode playing a different role. What was that episode?

Answer: Fearful Symmetry

Lenno Britos played a maintenance worker, who puts his cigarette vertically on the floor before the floor starts shaking as wild animals ram through the street.
6. Which one of these actors, who portrayed a "monster of the week" at some point, wrote their own screenplay for "The X-Files" episode and attempted to get Chris Carter to buy in on it?

Answer: Doug Hutchison (Eugene Tooms)

Doug Hutchison wrote a prequel to "Squeeze" called "Dark He Was and Golden-Eyed" and sent it to Chris Carter, but the screenplay was returned to Hutchison unread for legal reasons.
7. Karin Konoval, better known as Mrs. Peacock from a scandalous episode "Home", had another role on the show. Which of these episodes did she play in?

Answer: Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose

Konoval played Madame Zelme, a fortune teller killed in the opening sequence of the episode. Needless to say, she looked much better in that episode.
8. Kimberly Unger, who played the French sailor's wife, Joan Gauthier, in "Piper Maru", also appeared in a season 1 episode of "The X-Files". Which episode did she play in?

Answer: Fallen Angel

Unger played a US Air Force radar station operator in the "Fallen Angel". She only appeared in the opening minutes of the episode.
9. Brian Markinson played Gary Lambert - a disturbed employee of VynilRight Corporation capable of seeing a monster behind his boss' human visage in "Folie a Deux". His first role for "The X-Files" was in another episode. What was that episode?

Answer: Born Again

Markinson played a corrupt police officer Tony Fiore in "Born Again", who is stalked by the spirit of his former partner Charlie Morris, whom Fiore had killed for refusing to take the money stolen in a police raid.
10. "El Mundo Gira" features an actor, who later became known for his role of a ruthless mobster in a very popular TV-show created by one of screenwriters of "The X-Files". What is the name of that actor?

Answer: Raymond Cruz

In the episode, Raymond Cruz played Eladio Buente - an illegal immigrant spreading fatal fungi. Cruz would subsequently become known for his role of Tuco Salamanca - a crazy, ruthless mobster in "Breaking Bad", created by Vince Gilligan. Ruben Blades played the immigration service agent in the episode, while Erik Estrada was a fake name used by Buente, and Miguel Sandoval never appeared on "The X-Files".
11. The star of "Breaking Bad", Bryan Cranston, had a role in one of the episodes of "The X-Files". Which episode was he in?

Answer: Drive

Bryan Cranston played Patrick Crump in "Drive" - a victim of some sort of government experiment involving extremely low frequency waves. This role actually became instrumental for Cranston being cast in "Breaking Bad" because the creator of the show, Vince Gilligan, was also the screenwriter of "Drive" and was impressed by Cranston's acting talent.

As history showed, Vince hit a bullseye with this choice.
12. The star of the "Bosch" TV-series, Titus Welliver, had a role in "The X-Files" early in his career. Which "X-Files" episode did he play in?

Answer: Darkness Falls

Welliver played eco-terrorist Doug Spinney in the season 1 episode, "Darkness Falls".
13. Robert Clothier, who played old Captain Chris Johannson - once a member of the "Zeus Faber" submarine crew in "Piper Maru", played a different character in another "X-Files" mythology-related episode. What episode was it?

Answer: Red Museum

Clothier had a minor role in "Red Museum", where he pointed Mulder and Scully to men that were injecting cattle with growth hormones. The actor passed away in 1999 following three years of poor health after suffering a stroke in 1996.
14. Which one of these actors played two different "monsters-of-the-week" in two unconnected episodes?

Answer: Darin Morgan

Christopher Allport played Jack Willis/Warren Dupre in "Lazarus". Richard Beymer played Dr. Franklin in "Sanquinarium". Robert Wisden played Pusher in "Pusher" and "Kitsunegari". Darin Morgan is the only one of this group to have played different monsters. Morgan played the Flukeman in "The Host" and Eddie Van Blundht in "Small Potatoes".

He also wrote several episodes, including the Emmy-winning "Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose".
15. Actor Timothy Webber played a grumpy biologist Dr. Farraday in the season 3 episode "Quagmire". Webber previously appeared on "The X-File"s in a secondary role as well. What was that episode?

Answer: Our Town

Webber also played Jess Harold, the "Chaco's Chicken" floor manager, who has the leader of the town's cannibalistic cult, Walter Chaco, executed in front of the rest of the cult members.
