Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Unlike "Brain Age 2," the majority of "Brain Age" is concentrated on math. How many training activities in "Brain Age" use actual mathematical equations?

Answer: 4

The four that use mathematical equations are Calculations x20, Calculations x100, Triangle Math, and Voice Calculation. Calculations x20 and x100 have you solving addition, subtraction, and multiplication problems as quickly as you can. In hard mode on Calculations x100, division problems are also thrown in. Triangle Math has you adding, or subtracting, two equations at once and then adding or subtracting the sums, or differences, of the two equations to get one final number. Voice Calculation is just like the calculation exercises except there are fifty problems and you have to answer them out loud.
2. In "Brain Age," one of the voice activated Brain Age Check activities is the Stroop Test. Which one of the following colors is not used in the Stroop Test?

Answer: Orange

The other color that is used in this exercise is red. The Stroop Test is found only in the Brain Age Check section and can only be used if you can speak out loud. The Stroop Test shows names of colors and wants you to say the color of the word not the actual word. For example, if the word red came up and the word was colored blue, the correct answer would be blue.
3. In the training of "Brain Age," how many activities can be played in Normal or Hard mode when accumulating a certain amount of stamps?

Answer: 3

The three games that are available in hard mode are Calculations x100, Triangle Math, and Head Count. In Triangle Math you have to solve three equations, rather than the normal two at the beginning. In Calculations x100, there are division problems along with addition, subtraction, and multiplication.

Head Count is a training exercise in where you start with an amount of people in a house. People occasionally leave and enter asking you how many people are left in the game, getting progressively harder each time.

In Hard Mode, people will be leaving and entering using different exits such as the chimney.
4. In the game Syllable Count, a phrase from what Nintendo game is used?

Answer: Super Mario Bros.

The phrase is, "Sorry Mario, but our princess is in another castle." This phrase was used when you defeated Bowser and rescued some Toads instead of the princess. Syllable Count is an exercise that makes you count how many syllables are in a certain phrase.
5. In "Brain Age," what is the only activity used in a Brain Age Check and training?

Answer: Calculationsx20

Calculations x 20 is one of the nine training exercises used in the game. Other activities include Reading Aloud, which requires you to read an excerpt from a famous book or document as fast as you can. Low to High which requires you to memorize a series of numbers and then tap the blocks they were in from the lowest number to the highest number. Time Lapse which requires you to find out how much time has passed between two clocks that are not digital.
6. In "Brain Age 2," there were actually several activities shown on TV. Which activity was not shown in a commercial spot that showed Dr. Ryuta's head?

Answer: Sign Finder

Another game that was shown was Clock Spin. Sign Finder twists the calculation exercies around by asking you which sign, plus sign, times sign, minus sign, or divide sign completes the equation correctly. In Hard mode, it has you dealing with negative numbers and multiple numbers before the equal sign.
7. In "Brain Age 2," the majority of the training exercises, excluding the one at the very bottom outlined in blue, are judged by points rather than the amount of time it took you to finish an activity.

Answer: False

The numbers are very close though. The four activities that judge by points are Piano Player, Memory Sprint, Word Blend, and Block Count. Piano Player gives you a keyboard that ranges an octave and gives you a song to play. The idea is to hit the correct keys with your stylus in time with the song. Memory Sprint is like Head Count except it is a race and you have to find out what place the runner finished in. Word Blend has one to three words being said at the same time and you have to write down what words were said, in six tries. Block Count has blocks fall in certain columns behind a concealed graph and at the end you have to tell how high a certain column is judged by the blocks that fall.
8. In "Brain Age 2," there is more interactivity with the sounds and music. How many exercises can only be completed with the sound or music of the DS?

Answer: 1

There are two main activities that use sound and music but in actuality only one can be completed only with sound and that is the game Word Blend. Piano Player relys heavily on music but since there is the staff on the left screen, or right if you're left handed, you do not necessairly need the sound up even though it is better.
9. At the very bottom of the training selection screen there is an activity outlined in blue. This is a game designed to help you relax. What popular puzzle game is this game based off of?

Answer: Dr. Mario

All of these games have been released on the Nintendo systems but "Dr. Mario" is the main inspiration of the game "Virus Buster." Just like in "Dr. Mario," there are three different colors of viruses and you have to match the right color of pills with the viruses to destroy them.

There are three difficulties in this game. The main differences between "Virus Buster," and "Dr. Mario," is the pills fall slower, there can be more than one pill at a time, and the music from "Dr. Mario," named "Fever" and "Chill," is played slower.
10. Last question of "Brain Age 2." What is the only activity used in a Brain Age Check and training?

Answer: Math Recall

Math Recall comes in two difficulties but only the normal mode is used in a Brain Age Check. Math Recall requires you to solve simple math equations but every time one of the numbers is scratched out forcing you to remember the number scratched out while completing equations.

In Hard mode, it is the same process except two numbers are scratched out at the same time so you have to remember two numbers while continuing to solve equations.
11. In both "Brain Age," and "Brain Age 2," there is a memory game in the Brain Age Check. "Brain Age 2," has you memorize numbers, "Brain Age," has you memorize words that are how many letters long?

Answer: 4

In "Word Memory," you have two minutes to study the words and memorize them and then you have three minutes to write them down. In "Number Memory," you are given the numbers one through twenty-five in a five by five matrix and you have to remember in what positions they were in.
12. In both games, you can design your own stamp for completing a training exercise once acquiring a certain amount of stamps. Before that though, you have a default stamp. What does the default stamp have within it?

Answer: OK

This is also the logo on the selection screen for "Brain Age 2." After acquiring a certain amount of stamps you can design your stamp under the Other Options menu. You can use a circle template, a square template, or no template at all. However, like usual you can only acquire this by doing at least one training exercise a day, but if you do three training exercise your stamp will be bigger.
13. There are two hidden features in each game called the Brain Age Check selection screen and the Top Three Results. What button do you have to press to access these? You have to press the button while selecting Brain Age Check or Graph, respectively.

Answer: Select

The Brain Age selection screen allows you to pick which three activites are used to register your Brain Age and can be accessed by pressing Select while choosing Brain Age Check. The top three results will show you the best three scores on any activity, even Brain Age activities. This can be accessed by pressing the Select button while selecting Graph.
14. On both games, when doing a Brain Age Check, what is the best score you can get?

Answer: 20

This is also the best score you can get for a Wii Fitness test on Wii Sports. Sometimes Doctor Ryuta will fool you by saying your Brain Age is 78 or something and then he'll realize he calculated your Brain Age wrong. The lower your score the better your brain is functioning.
15. On the selection screen there are four options. Three of them are Quick Play, Daily Training, and DS Download Play. What is the fourth one?

Answer: Sudoku

Sudoku is a number puzzle game originally Japanese but has become popular all over the world. The puzzle gives you a nine by nine grid which requires you to place numbers one through nine in each column, each row, and each of the nine squares in the grid. The catch is, no number can repeat in a row, column, or square.
