"Phantasmagoria" Part 2 Trivia Quiz

Answer: Gaston

Gaston was the man whom Marie cheated on his husband with. When Carno awoke from the come that Gaston and Marie put him in, He was heavily mutilated. He got revenge on Gaston by mutilating him to the point where Gaston would eventually die. But before Gaston died, he finished off Carno. Gaston and Marie both lay dead together on the floor in the theater. Carno went to the secret passage trying to get to his secret chamber, but he collapsed and died before he made it.

When people found the bodies of Gaston and Marie, Gaston was so mutilated that everybody thought he was Carno. Only Malcolm knew the truth, but he didn't tell anyone. He just let the people think what they wanted to think. So they put Gaston in a tomb next to Marie's tomb, and they wrote "Zoltan Carnovasch" on the tomb.

After Carno died, Malcolm dragged his body to the secret chamber. That's where he lies. Adrienne sees his body at the end of the game.

Answer: The Fool

"The Fool" aptly describes Adrienne. No matter how many warning signs she gets about the house and about her husband, she just can't figure out what's going on and how serious this is. Harriet's tarot reading is just another warning Adrienne doesn't take seriously.

Answer: Cyrus

Cyrus is a hunter, so he explores everything he can. The trail is washed out, leaving a big gap between the mansion and the greenhouse. Cyrus jumps over the gap, but Adrienne is not strong enough to do so. Cyrus fixes the trail by pushing over a nearby tree. Cyrus tells Adrienne that his mother always tells him that he has more muscles than brains. Adrienne says "Your mother was right," although she isn't all that bright herself.

Answer: There's another room near the tower room

There is a clearly fake wall near the tower bedroom. Adrienne does not know it's fake. In order for her to realize it's fake, she has to cross a washed-out trail and get far from her house and find a telescope that for some reason is pointed at her house.

The telescope reveals another window by the tower room. That is what tips her off about the fake wall, even though it'd be obvious to most people. Even more amazingly, this is the only reason you have to cross the chasm. Witnessing the dead body and the murder in the greenhouse is optional.

Answer: Hortencia, Victoria, Leonora, Regina, Marie

There are some hints for which wife is which. In the conservatory, there's a green gardening dress with an "H" on it. Also, the diary in the attic mentions that the only thing the writer has to cheer her up are her plants. It also mentions the death of their baby. The family tree said that Hortencia is the only wife who had a child with Carno.

Carno mentions both Regina and Victoria by name when he murders them. We don't witness Marie's murder until Malcolm tell us about it and mentions Marie by name.

After learning who the other victims were, you can deduce that Leonora was the wife who was murdered in the most painful way of them all. That is a very VERY difficult murder to watch. Poor Leonora.

You can watch the murders in whatever order you want. Victoria's murder is likely to be the 4th one you see, since the dining room is further away from where you begin the chapter than the attic or the room with the tortured devices. However, the family tree in the chapter says Victoria was the 2nd wife. That's where I get the order.

Answer: Carno

Harriet calls Adrienne to the barn for a seance. Adrienne is reluctant to do so, but she decides to be nice to her new friends. At first, Adrienne laughs during the seance, but then Harriet appears to vomit some unnatural vomit. Harriet is shcoked and scared. The vomit then takes the form of a man's face. The man introduces himself as Zoltan Carnovasch (Carno). He tells Adrienne that he was greedy and foolish and that he released an "obscenity" into the world, and now the obscenity is back. He tells Adrienne to "Find the dragon. It will show you the way." Adrienne finds an image of a dragon in the conservatory. It shows her a secret passage.

So much for the theory that Carno's ghost haunts the place.

Unfortunately, Adrienne finds a cigarette in the secret passage. This shows that Don knows about the secret passages too.

Answer: Spaz

Spaz, the cat, is the first murder victim at the Carnovasch estate in the Don-Adrienne era. Adrienne finds Spaz's corpse in the fish pond right outside her house. At first Adrienne thinks that Cyrus did it, having witnessed his attempt to hunt and kill Spaz for food in chapter 4.

In the opening movie of chapter 6, Adrienne finds Spaz's collar on a bench in front of a fireplace where a drunk Don had been lying. That's when she realizes it was Don who did it. Personally, I knew right away that it was probably Don. Cyrus was only hunting Spaz for food, he wouldn't have drowned him. Don was the one who had changed into a purely evil man, a fact that was evident to everybody but Adrienne.

Answer: Marie and Gaston

Marie had an affair with Gaston because she knew that her husband murdered her predecessors. Marie knows that Carno knows about her affair with Gaston. At first, Gaston offers to take Marie far away. Marie declines, saying that Carno will find him where she goes. Gaston then tells Marie that Carno is attempting his newest escape trick, and that he can rig the machine so it won't work.

Answer: Absinthe

Adrienne finds a bottle of absinthe in the alcohol cabinet. Each chapter, that bottle gets emptier and emptier. Finally, Adrienne sees Don passed out in front of the fireplace with an empty bottle of absinthe in his hand. The absinthe seems to silence the demon temporarily. When Don sobers up, he becomes mean again.

Answer: Crystal dragon scale

The stone of Hammurabi ends up being a talisman that was around Carno's neck. The holy item can either be the cross from Lou Ann's shop, or the rosary beads on Marie's tomb. The only sentient being in the house is Adrienne, so she will have to purposefully cut herself.

The Crystal Dragon scale was an ingredient for a potion in "King's Quest 7".

Answer: Mike

Mike finishes installing the phone and then tries to leave, but demon-possessed Don sneaks up on him and murders him. Unfortunately for Adrienne, by the time the phone gets installed, it's too late to call the police. The police couldn't have handled a demon anyway.

Answer: "But a head is useless!"

Adrienne enters the dark room for the first time since the first chapter to find a bunch of photos of her where the head had been chopped off of each photo. Her demon-crazed husband finds her in his dark room, says this to her, and catches her. From this point on, it's up to the player to make Adrienne do what she needs to do, or let her get killed.

Answer: Harriet

Don cut off the top of Harriet's head and wore her hair as a wig. Adrienne sees the hair from behind and at first thinks it's Harriet. Then she sees it's Don, and she finds, to her horror, Harriet's body laying on the floor, the top of the head opened and the brain split in two and fallen out.

Adrienne finds Cyrus's remains in the secret passage on the way to the crypt. She trips in a pool of his blood and then his corpse falls on top of her. Fortunately, she manages to get the big body off of her before Don finds her.

She finds Mike's remains on the way to Marie's bedroom.

She found Spaz's remains in the fish pond earlier in the game

Answer: Four

1. Get Adrienne strangled by Don when you first enter the dark room
2. Make Adrienne fall to her death when crossing the chasm in the secret passage that leads to Carno's secret chamber
3. Get Adrienne beheaded by the machine in the theater
4. Get Adrienne's face ripped apart by the demon

There's many different ways to trigger the final two deaths. There are many different place where Adrienne can get captured by Don and the demon. In some places, if she gets captured by Don before she has everything she needs, she can use the hammer or fireplace poker to escape. When she has everything she needs, Don will automatically capture her and chain her to the machine. Adrienne must distract Don with the snowman ornament and use the machine to kill him. Adrienne hates having to kill her husband, and she's distraught when he dies, but it's the only way to keep him from killing her.

Answer: Take a Stand

The song is likely meant to sum up Adrienne's feelings during the game. She loves Don and doesn't want to kill him, but she can't let him kill her. The song was written by Mark Siebert.
