England pushed and pressing forward in the first 15 minutes, after this the game played in the center of the field. Colombia play to don't lose but need to seek with to the laterals and need an offensive midfielder to try to push against the England's defense. Dave, Fox does a lot of sports. They also regularly ... maybe twice a week? ... do baseball games, like ESPN does. Completely apolitical. VAR probably confirmed Geiger’s decision. Of everything he has done wrong today, I don’t think the penalty was one of them. But joe, I can understand how you feel. No Lpez the VAR don't apply when the refferi it's so close to the play. In a game like this the refferi have the decision to use or not the VAR. In penalty shootout England pass to quarterfinals, but Colombia play in a very defensive form when Colombia can to make a more offensive game. The first 15 minutes with England pushed and Colombia resisting, beetwen 16-89 minutes was a very tactic and gray game. Only with the Mina score the game revival. With the first extra time for Colombia and the second for England in a great extra time, with many emotional plays. YEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS. Talk about roller coaster ride, hope my suspect heart can stand it! Now I'm going to have a few quid on Colchester United becoming the first League 2 team to win the FA Cup next season !.....I mean...........England WINNING a penalty shoot-out....like finding a full set of hens teeth! The England manager, Gareth Southgate remembers that England once went out of the World Cup because he missed a penalty as a player. It's kind of a redemption for him to see his team win a penalty shoot out at last. Some diving in the game but also some grappling and wrestling moves. The funniest was when Raheem Sterling was trying to control the ball carrying a Colombian player on his back but thank goodness it didn't get too out of hand and descend into outright fighting. Joe, referees have the authority to decide whether they stop the match to consult VAR or not. But VAR is always talking to the referee. You could even see Geiger clearly holding his earphone with his hand. I’m positive that VAR talked to him. In Brazil vs Switzerland, there was controversy because the ref (Mexican by the way) gave a goal and didn’t check VAR when there could’ve been a. Foul. In a press conference, we clearly saw how VAR was talking at all times between them and to the ref, which is why he didn’t check it. So, in summary Joe, it’s not that “VAR doesnt apply”. VAR is always checking as a tool, the ref has the authority to stop or not, but VAR can always talk to him!!
