Always good to have a laugh Joe.

This is the most interesting World Cup for quite a while.

I try to write fine. I play the trivia for 6 years...it's so cool but it's super challenging try to answer in another language.
Pitana it's my favorite to the final.
Ricci look fine today. I see with little mistakes all quarterfinal referies.

Russia vs Croatia was awesome...I expected a Russia with a more conservative position but play very aggressive and without fear, Croatia show all weapons with passing and good combination, and the pre-elaborated plays (as corner and free kicks), aerial power.
Subatic imake a legend this year

Joe...........Good lord, you need aplogise for nothing....given your first language is Spanish I presume?, your grasp of English is awesome.

How many of we English speakers could talk or write in Spanish I wonder? Here is one who sure couldn't! Hat off to you my friend, you do brilliantly well.

In the Croatia national team is a player who plays for Liverpool FC, Dejan Lovren. He is close friend with Mohammed Salah who also plays for Liverpool FC and Egypt national team (who are out of the World Cup).

Here is a funny chat between them where they are like a comedy duo, like a bickering old couple. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mkw8VS67U8Y&t=203s

English coverage always try to get the English angle into everything too even when the home nations are eliminated.

I like BBC coverage though mainly as it is fronted by Gary Lineker, who I really like. Not so keen on ITV coverage. Never liked their commentators historically. In fact I used to watch their champions league coverage (when they used to have it) on mute because Clyde Tyldesley and Ron Atkinson were so irritating! There's always the option of sticking the radio on to listen to a radio commentary. Radio commentary tries so much harder because you can't see what they are describing.

nasty liar, I seem to recall that Ron Atkinson was sacked in 2004 for a racist remark, so you won't encounter him again.

BBC World Service radio commentary is available here. I started listening to it for the quarter final with the tv on mute but there's always that few seconds of delay so the sound and image don't synch. Had to ditch the radio coverage and stick with the tv. It was Martin Tyler, a very good commentator.

I don't get to listen to his dreadful commentary that's right Mix.

Nor do I get to watch any champions league games anymore because it is on subscription TV (Sky and BT sport) and has been for a few years. A shame.

nasty, That's why I only take an interest in watching the World Cup now. Watching any other regular football is too expensive or maybe I wouldn't pay for what we once watched free or cheaply, on principle.
Big money ruined the game I think. It was no longer about local teams sporting local talent but about who had pockets deep enough to afford the biggest international stars and international money men, often with little knowledge of football, buying football teams, sometimes to use merely as a vanity project or a source of income to sustain their wealthy lifestyles.

I was surprised to learn of the amounts of transfer fees and football(soccer) players salaries. I had always thought that the New York Yankees and the Dallas Cowboys had the deepest pockets, I was so wrong.

Mixy...........The days of football being cheap entertainment for the masses, is long gone sadly...........watching a team (even a team down in League 2) regularly, entails the sort of expenditure, I for one could not have afforded whilst working, and certainly can't now retired.
From 1972 - 1994 to watch my team play at home, entailed a 90 mile round trip..........fuel costs, ticket costs and relatively low pay, meant that I had to severely limit such trips.
Temptation was removed in June 1994, when I moved 300 miles North.
I don't know what percentage of expensive foreign imports exist in Premiership, but my guess is they outstrip UK born players by a large margin.
Like cheap entertainment, the days of local teams consisting of local players, is long gone......probably not existed in all but grass roots games, since 1950's.

There was some local input still in the 1970s. I used to watch Birmingham City FC and one of their local stars, their centre forward, was Bob Latchford who lived in the same area as my friend and me. She went round to his house, knocked on his door and got his autograph.

I travelled as far as Preston in the north and London in the south to watch away games. It was affordable then.

terraorca. Yes, transfer fees and salaries for the top stars are astounding now. If stars get badly injured the fees can all go to waste too.

Still affordable for many fans at my club. My season ticket cost around £200.

But I do agree with the principle of too much money spoiling the game.

Probably just like here in the states, all the clubs carry insurance, in case of injuries. That way, the salary burden, is lessened.
