Answer: Sgt. Horvath

After Private Ryan refused to abandon his post at the bridge at Ramelle with his squad, Captain Miller and Sergeant Horvath walked away from the crowd to discuss how they were going to incorporate this change of events into their plans, as they both agreed with Ryan when he asked why he should be so privileged to go home when all the men around him had fought just as diligently. Miller asked Horvath what he thought they should do. Horvath explained that there were two ways he could see. They could either leave Ryan at the village and go home, or they could stay, and hope to make it through the mess they'd gotten into, and that "someday they might look back and decide that saving Private Ryan was the one decent thing they were able to pull out the whole God-awful mess."

Answer: "I'm fine, just got the wind knocked out of me."

Horvath had a tough time in the battle of Ramelle. He took out multiple Germans, including armored vehicles, as well as saving the lives of many Americans, most notably, Upham. He ran out of ammo and even resorted to throwing his helmet to beat the Germans back. He was shot many times, in the leg, back, side, etc. but continued to fight the pain and Germans. He actually made it behind the barricades on the other side of the bridge, and merely said, "I'm fine, just got the wind knocked out of me," when Miller asked if he was alright. He soon died afterwards.
