1. Which blond bombshell celebrity once did commercials for Ace Hardware?

Answer: Suzanne Somers

Ace Hardware Corporation paid Somers $200,000 a year for doing the ads back in the 1970s. However, they "decided to cease using any advertising featuring Ms. Somers" after she appeared nude in some "Playboy" publicity photos.
2. Humorist and writer Goodman Ace had a long-running radio show. What was the show's title?

Answer: Easy Aces

"Easy Aces" ran on NBC and CBS from 1930 to 1945. The 15-minutes spots revolved around Goodman and his wife, Jane, who had a curious way of expressing herself. Some of her more memorable lines were, "You could have knocked me down with a fender", "Time wounds all heels", and "I'm his awfully-wedded wife".
3. There was a popular singing group in the 1950s who called themselves the Four Aces. What song was NOT one of their big hits?

Answer: Can't Take My Eyes Off of You

Surprisingly, the famous American pilot, Rickenbacker, shot down a mere 26 enemy planes, but that was the most of any other American pilot in WWI.
5. The English word "ace" derived from what term?

Answer: as - an ancient Roman coin

The word "ace" is derived from the French word "as" (plural "asses") meaning "a unit", which in itself derived from the name of an ancient Roman coin. "Ace" was the first album by the Grateful Dead guitarist Bob Weir and was released in 1972.
