Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
Answer:

Have you wondered why some fruits, vegetables, or things in nature are of a certain colour? Well, one class of organic pigment known as a carotenoid is lycopene. It is associated with beta-carotene and contributes to the red colour of some fruits and vegetables, like tomatoes, strawberries, and raspberries. Carotenoids are a separate kind of pigment and are the most common pigment in nature. The most prevalent type of pigment found in flowers is called anthocyanins.

The pigments that give plants their unique hues are called carotenoids, flavonoids (such as anthocyanins), and chlorophylls. Anything that reduces the formation of pigment will result in reduced colour. Chlorophyll is responsible for the green colour of avocados, gooseberries, cucumbers, zucchini, green peppers, and other green fruits and vegetables.

Sumac: Dried berries are used to make sumac. There are numerous recipes that call for this specific spice. Sumac's citrusy taste complements fish rather nicely.

Lychee: Tropical fruits like lychees are found on trees. Lychee is sometimes known as "alligator strawberry." China, Malaysia, northern Vietnam, and a few more locations are home to this fruit. It can be included in a fruit salad or eaten on its own.

Adaptaur: Australia is where the Adaptaur was developed. This cow is a hybrid of a shorthorn and a Hereford. Its enhanced resilience to heat, cattle ticks, and internal parasites was the primary reason for breeding it while simultaneously yielding high-quality meat.

Irish Setter: When it comes to engaging with their human and canine partners, Irish Setters are often fun-loving, playful, and affectionate.

Heart symbol: often used in social media as an emoji.

Male cardinals: These birds can be found in parts of Canada and the USA. The females are fawn-coloured, with a hint of red on the wings. The male is bright red, and the face is outlined in black.

Paprika: Paprika is a vivid, medium-dark pinkish-red colour. It has medium lightness and strong saturation, and it is a member of the crimson colour family. Ground chilli pepper is called paprika. Any dried and ground capsicum pepper can be used to make this versatile condiment, which works well in most recipes. It tastes good in barbecue sauce or as a rub on all kinds of meat. I use it in my curries.

Lily leaf beetle: These beetles can be found in Canada, the USA, and Great Britain. The red lily beetle and the lily leaf beetle are other names for the scarlet lily beetle. This is a type of leaf beetle that consumes crops such as onions, garlic, and asparagus in addition to the leaves, stems, buds, and flowers of tulips and lilies.

Kidney bean: This bean can be found in parts of Central America, Mexico, and India, among other places. Worldwide, the common bean is a significant food crop and a significant source of protein. Chili con carne wouldn't taste the same without the kidney bean.

Chilli peppers: Chilli peppers are grown in several places in the world. They are known for their heat and have a scale depicting their heat range called the Scoville Scale. Pure capsaicin is classified as super hot and has a scale of 15,000,000-16,000,000 Scoville Heat Units (SHUs). Popular dishes with chilli in them are tacos, burritos, quesadillas, nachos, and curries.

Cranberries: Cranberries are classified as fruits; they are found on low shrubs and vines. Cranberries are a perennial crop because they can reappear on the same vine year after year. In the UK, cranberries are typically served with turkey for Christmas dinner.

Circassian Seeds: Circassian seeds are the seeds of a red sandalwood tree. The seeds are often used in jewellery to make necklaces, earrings, and pendants. The wood from the trees is also used in the making of furniture.

Elderberries: Eating raw elderberries is not recommended, as they can make you feel sick and cause diarrhoea. To be safe, they need to be cooked thoroughly; the longer, the better. They are excellent at jams, chutneys, and cakes. You can even make elderberry wine. They are a dark purple.

Squash: Squash is sometimes called a vegetable, but since it contains seeds, it is actually a fruit. It's not just squash that people mistake for a vegetable. Cucumbers, tomatoes, eggplants, and avocados are among other fruits that are commonly referred to as veggies.

Papaya: Papaya can be eaten raw or cooked and is great in a salad. Papaya leaves are frequently used by chefs to tenderise meat. An enzyme found in papaya fruit breaks down protein tissue similarly to the digestive juices in the stomach.

Anianiau: The Anianiau is a small bird from Hawaii known as the Hawaiian honeycreeper. This species can only be found on the island of Kauai. The anianiau is the smallest Hawaiian honeycreeper, measuring 10 centimetres (3.9 in) in length and sporting vivid yellow plumage.

Carnotite: The vivid greenish-yellow mineral known as carnenotite is usually found in sandstones as flakes and crusts. It provides vanadium, radium, and uranium.

Blood Plasma: In the human body, plasma makes up 55% of our blood. Blood plasma is yellow and part of the component that makes blood. An adult typically contains 10 pints, or 1.2-1.5 gallons (10 units) of blood.
