The Royal Borough of Greenwich is located in southeast London, with a shoreline on the River Thames. Historically part of the county of Kent, it became part of Greater London in the mid 19th century. It became the London Borough of Greenwich in 1965.

In 2012, as part of the celebrations for the diamond jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II, Greenwich was designated a royal borough due to its historical links with the royal family - it joined Kingston upon Thames and Kensington & Chelsea as the only boroughs with a "Royal" prefix.

Greenwich wasn't served by the underground at all until 1999 when the Jubilee Line extension saw the opening of North Greenwich station. The station lies between Canary Wharf in the Docklands and Canning Town on the north side of the River Thames.

The borough is well served by other rail transport - the Dockland Light Railway has five stations in Greenwich, whilst there are numerous overground rail stations.

The Cutty Sark is a tea clipper which was active between 1869 and 1885, bringing tea from China and wool from Australia. She is berthed in a dry dock in Greenwich and is a popular tourist attraction. The ship survived two fires, in 2007 and 2012.

Charlton Athletic were founded in 1905 and play their home games at The Valley in the Charlton district of Greenwich. The club won the F.A. Cup in 1947, defeating Burnley in the final at Wembley.

Arsenal F.C. were originally based in the Woolwich district of Greenwich, but they relocated north of the Thames to Islington in 1913.

Answer: Eltham Palace

Eltham Palace is no longer a royal residence, but a large house in the district of Eltham in southwest Greenwich. It was first used as a royal residence by King Edward II in the 14th century, whilst King Henry VIII spent his childhood there. The palace fell into disuse in the 17th century, but was restored in the 1930s. Nowadays the house is owned by English Heritage and is a popular tourist attraction.

The London cable car, nicknamed the "dangleway", consists of 34 gondolas with a maximum of ten passengers each. The ride lasts 10 minutes during the daytime and 12 to 13 minutes in the evening.

Answer: National Maritime Museum

The National Maritime Museum is part of Royal Museums Greenwich which also includes the Royal Observatory. The museum was opened in 1934 in a building which was formerly the Royal Hospital School. The collection includes the uniform of Lord Nelson, Ernest Shackleton's chronometer, a pocket watch from the Titanic and a massive collection of maritime art.

Greenwich Park consists of 180 acres of open space and is home to the Royal Observatory and the Prime Meridian. At the 2012 Summer Olympics, as well as the equestrian events, the park also hosted the riding, running and shooting elements of the modern pentathlon. The park is also a starting point for the annual London Marathon.

The Royal Arsenal in Woolwich evolved over many years, starting with a gun wharf in 1518. It was officially named the Royal Arsenal in 1805, during the Napoleonic Wars. Following the end of World War 2, armaments production steadily decreased with various sites of the Arsenal eventually closing. Housing, museums and heritage centres now occupy the site.

Opened in 1999 under its original title of the Millennium Dome, the O2 Arena has a capacity of around 20,000 and is used for music concerts, exhibitions, boxing and wrestling events, and much more besides.
