When you think of Wheaties, you picture the "Breakfast of Champions" and all of the athletes on the cover, but the cereal is the oldest on the list debuting in 1924. The "snap, crackle, and pop" boys on Rice Krispies came out in 1928. In the 1940s we first heard about "two scoops of raisins in every box" of Raisin Bran.
Four of the cereals debuted in the 1950s but were sold in the following decades. Kellogg's Corn Pop came out in the early 1950s. "Silly rabbit, Trix are for kids" and they debuted in 1954. S Cocoa Puffs debuted in 1956 and combined corn, rice, and chocolate flavoring.
Debuting in the 1960s, we had Life cereal which was famous for their commercials where "Mikey likes it!". Horatio Q. Crunch was the face behind the Cap'n Crunch cereal which debuted in 1963. Froot Loops also debuted in 1963. The following year, Lucky Charms caught everyone's fancy by being "magically delicious". Kellogg's introduced us to their apple and cinnamon-flavored creation Apple Jacks in 1965.
The 1970s added the last cereals to our quiz. Count Chocula was a chocolate frosted "delicacy" complete with marshmallows. I'm sure dentists loved the combination. Golden Grahams used the slogan "Have a Golden Day" to promote their cereal which debuted in the bicentennial year. Honey Nut Cheerios debuted and was sold in 1979 and promoted this version of Cheerios as contained whole grain oat cereal with real honey.
Apple Cinnamon Cheerios came out in 1989. Crispix had a unique woven look that combined rice and corn and debuted in 1983. Cinnamon Toast Crunch was sold in 1987 and promoted their brand as less sugary and was made from whole wheat but still was sugar dusted. And finally, Oreo-O's looked like donuts but had the taste of Oreo cookies and added sugar sprinkles. They didn't even attempt to try to look healthy when they came out in 1998.
