"The Logical Song" by Supertramp
Written by Richard Davies and Roger Hodgson

"When I was young, it seemed that life was so
A miracle, oh, it was , magical
And all the birds in the trees, well they'd be singing so
Oh, , oh, playfully watching me

But then they sent me away to teach me how to be sensible
, oh, , practical
And then they showed me a world where I could be so
Oh, clinical, oh, ,

There are times when all the world's asleep
The questions run too
For such a simple man
Won't you please, please ?
I know it sounds
Please

I said, now, , they'll be calling you a
A , oh, fanatical,
Oh, won't you sign up your name? We'd like to feel you're acceptable
, oh, ,
Oh, take, take, take it, yeah"

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
Answer:

Supertramp began taking shape in London in 1969 around keyboardist Rick Davies. Roger Hodgson joined soon afterwards as the other main songwriter and vocalist. Their early albums earned critical respect, but critical respect doesn't pay the bills. Commercially, things started firing on all cylinders with 1974's "Crime of the Century". This gave us the sound of Supertramp's blend of progressive rock and pop melodies that we all know and love.
Then came 1979's "Breakfast in America".

"Breakfast in America" became Supertramp's big commercial breakthrough, reaching Number One in several countries and eventually selling around 20 million copies worldwide. The album produced a stream of hit singles, including "The Logical Song," "Goodbye Stranger," "Take the Long Way Home," and, to a lesser extent, "Breakfast in America." The album made introspection radio-friendly.

"The Logical Song" was written primarily by Roger Hodgson, inspired by his days of attending boarding school in England. The lyrics seem to satirize his frustration with an education that focuses on becoming sensible, logical, and responsible while leaving little room for curiosity or individuality. It was released as the lead single from "Breakfast in America" and became one of Supertramp's biggest international hits.
