Faster Pussycat was a Los Angeles-based rock band led by vocalist Taime Downe. The group struck it big in 1989 with their second album "Wake Me When It's Over" which went platinum. The album featured the power ballad "House of Pain" which became an MTV favorite.

Trixter was based out of Paramus, New Jersey. After the release of their debut album in 1990 the band went on tour with Don Dokken and Stryper. During this period, MTV played their videos for "One In A Million" and "Give It To Me Good" and the band's album went platinum.

White Lion was one of the more successful "hair metal" bands. Based out of New York City, the group had multiple hit albums including "Pride" and "Big Game" during the early 1990s. Lead singer Mike Tramp's voice shined on singles "Wait!" and "When The Children Cry".

It took five years to go platinum, but the Texas based band Dangerous Toys reached this milestone in 1994. Their best known hits included "Scared" and "Teas'n Pleas'" which were played often on MTV's "Headbanger's Ball".

One of the greatest power ballads of the era was "Love Is On The Way", a top twelve Billboard Hot 100 Single for Saigon Kick. Based on the massive single, their second album sold over a half million copies. The band was formed in Broward County in southern Florida.

1984 was a big year for the band Autograph. They were tabbed to open for another California band, Van Halen, and Autograph released their debut album. Their signature hit, "Turn Up The Radio" was featured on an episode of the TV show "Miami Vice" and the album went platinum.

Vixen was one of the few female "hair metal" bands that became major acts of the era. Vixen's biggest hits included "Edge Of A Broken Heart" written by Jon Bon Jovi and "Cryin". The band was formed in St. Paul, Minnesota but saw their biggest success when they headed to the Sunset Strip in California.

Bad English was a super group of the "hair metal" era that combined members of Journey with The Babys led by lead singer John Waite. Their debut album was powered by the singles "Price Of Love" and the number one hit "When I See You Smile".

Steelheart's debut album went platinum in 1991 and their power ballad, "I'll Never Let You Go" reached the top 25 of the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart. Lead singer Miljenko Matijevic had an incredible vocal range and the single showcased this talent. They were based out of Norwalk, Connecticut.

Slaughter was founded in Las Vegas, Nevada. Like the bands Van Halen and Bon Jovi, Slaughter chose their name based on band member Mark Slaughter's name. "Stick It to Ya" was the band's biggest selling album and it was their debut in 1990. The hit single "Up All Night" helped push the album to over two million album sales.

Cameo, Xscape, and Blackstreet are R&B groups that saw their biggest success in the 1980s and 1990s. Cheetah, Diamond Eyes, and Spider are fictional band names. Blackhawk was a very successful country music band of the era. Expose was a three girl group who had a number of dance club hits during the "hair band" era.
