Loud, Scream, Yell, and Shout
You know those songs that you're singing "loud" and "scream" out the lyrics in the car. Let's match up some great songs that use those words plus "shout" and "yell" in their titles. The songs go back from the early 1960s to 2021.
"In the midnight hour, she cried 'more, more, more'", who can forget that iconic chorus by Billy Idol on his smash single from 1983. The guitar riff by Steve Stevens carried the song to anthem level. In 2016, Billy Idol brought back the classic song as a duet with pop star Miley Cyrus.
2. "Shout"

When England participated in the 2012 FIFA World Cup, the team needed an anthem to excite the crowd. A collaboration effort song was spearheaded by English rapper, Dizzee Rascal, and it became the unofficial team theme song. The song was credited to Dizzee, comedian James Corden, and featured prominent samples of Tears For Fears' "Shout" and Blackstreet's "No Diggity".
3. "Twist And Shout"

"Twist And Shout" has a long history. The original version was recorded by The Top Notes but became a hit first for the Isley Brothers. The Beatles recorded their incredible cover with John Lennon taking lead vocals. The all-female rap group, Salt N Pepa, recorded their version in 1988, If you wanted a reggae version of "Twist and Shout", Chaka Demus and Pliers recorded a cover in 1993.
4. "Don't Cry Out Loud"

Even though "loud" is in the title, Melissa Manchester's comeback hit "Don't Cry Out Loud" belongs more in the pop and easy listening category. Written by Peter Allen and Carole Bayer Sager, Melissa's song reached number 26 on the 1979 end of year countdown on the Billboard Hot 100.
5. "Thinking Out Loud"

Ed Sheeran's "Thinking Out Loud" was released on Ed's second studio album "X" in 2014. In July 2015, the song set a record for staying in the UK Top 40 for the entire year! The beautiful ballad won two Grammy Awards for Song of The Year and Best Pop Solo Performance.
6. "Might Get Loud"

Written by Brandon Lake, Chris Brown, and Steven Furtick, "Might Get Loud" was released in 2021 by the American group, Elevation Worship. The spiritual anthem was an energetic call to get up out of your seat and praise God. The song reached number four on Christian Digital Song Sales chart in 2021.
7. "Say It Loud, I'm Black And I'm Proud"
Answer: James Brown
Written by his bandleader, Pee-Wee Ellis, James Brown released "Say It Loud, I'm Black and I'm Proud" in 1969. The anthem was addressed against racism and released during a turbulent era in the United States. The song featured an incredible arrangement and a trombone solo by Fred Wesley. It reached number two on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart.
8. "Let's Get Loud"
Answer: Jennifer Lopez
When Gloria Estefan co-wrote "Let's Get Loud", she intended to release it as her single. But feeling it was too similar to her other releases, "Let's Get Loud" was recorded instead by singer/actress Jennifer Lopez for her 2000 debut album "On The 6". Although not released as a single in the U.S., the song was a worldwide smash.
In 2020, Jennifer performed the dance song with her daughter, Emme, and Shakira during the Super Bowl LIV halftime show.
9. "Stand Up And Shout"

If you wanted to showcase what heavy metal sounds like, put on "Stand Up And Shout" by Dio from 1983's "Holy Diver" album. Lead singer Ronnie James Dio died of gastric cancer and his foundation, Ronnie James Dio Stand Up And Shout Cancer Fund, is a non-profit group dedicated to helping those battling with the horrible disease.
10. "Scream"
Answer: Michael and Janet Jackson
It's hard to underestimate the power of Michael and Janet Jackson's dominance of the Billboard music charts. But, they officially only recorded one song together during their career. "Scream" was released on Michael Jackson's ninth album, the greatest hits package, "HIStory: Past, Present and Future, Book I". Michael and Janet were contributors to the song's lyrics and productions but it was the duo of Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis that led the way to the massive worldwide hit.
