The year was 1967 when the Athletics were in their last year in Kansas City before moving to Oakland the following year. In 35 game appearances he popped for only 1 home run.

He was an outfielder reserve amongst the three regulars that the team had in the likes of Mike Hershberger, Jim Gosger, and Rick Monday. He played in limited duty in his first year of 1967.
