Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Andrea, who Lois and Sister Megan picked up during their drive, claims she was out in the road for what reason?

Answer: She had a car accident

Lois and Sister Megan finally make it out of the smoke and fire before they talk to the girl they picked up in their car, Andrea, who claims that she was in an accident in her car. They ask how they can help and she suggests stopping at the motel further up the road, if only to clean herself up; she's still covered in blood and dirt. As they pull into the parking lot, Andrea recognizes one of the cars as belonging to Nick, who works there, and that's a good thing for her she says-- he's okay. Lois has to reiterate that Andrea looks like someone beat her bad, but Andrea is insistent that she'll be fine. She recommends the pair of them stay at the motel, at least until the fires are done burning, since it's safe.

Andrea runs out of the car, thanking the two of them, before heading into the motel. Regardless of if she's okay or not, they have no real choice but to let her do her own thing.
2. Lois and Sister Megan check into a hotel. What colour does the water in the pool appear to be?

Answer: Purple

Sister Megan confides in Lois that she feels like the world is on a tilt; it could very well be that the smoke from the mysterious fires contains a hallucinogen. Lois agrees that this could very well be the case, as absurd as it sounds, and she uses the nearby motel pool as an example. When Sister Megan takes a look at the water, it appears purple.

Nervous with the situation at hand, Sister Megan believes it might be best to keep driving, but with the sun setting, Lois is certain that the safest place to be is the motel, and fortunately, there's vacancy.

When they head in to the front desk, the woman taking care of the place, coincidentally named Andrea, explains the pool colour succinctly. Evidently, the ash from the fires contains a lot of copper, and when the ash falls into chlorine-heavy pools, the water turns purple; the chemicals interact. At least that's what Nick, their everything guy, says.
3. Checking into a motel for the evening, do Lois and Sister Megan share the same room?

Answer: Yes

While Sister Megan heads to the motel room, Lois stays back to speak to front desk Andrea, specifically asking about her black eye. Lois tries her best to help the woman, suggesting she can help if anyone is causing her harm, even if it's Nick, but she's told not to involve herself.

It's a concerning coincidence to say the least, and one that leads Lois and Sister Megan to check in with the woman they dropped off, still locked in the women's restroom. Andrea's not there, however. All that appears to be left behind is a pile of bloody towels and a trail of footprints leading through another motel room and out the back, into the desert.

Believing Andrea to be out there, on foot, Lois and Sister Megan find their room, and Megan begins to pray for their safety. She invites Lois to join her, but Lois says she'll feel too silly. Instead, Lois unpacks her weapons. Both of them have undeniably different coping mechanisms.
4. Who, of these, calls Lois while she's at the motel?

Answer: Nurse Redd

Lois turns on the TV to find nothing short of unsettling news about disasters, religious fervour, and disease outbreaks. Sister Megan, unnerved, believes that the man at the gas station digging fire lines had the right idea, and she implores Lois help her clear brush from around the motel, but Lois is more interested in taking a shower.

Lois receives a phone call as Sister Megan leaves though, and it turns out that Nurse Redd has been trying to get a hold of her, eager to discuss a conversation they had about handing over power of attorney for Marshall. Redd insists they can't keep Marshall on life support in their facilities in perpetuity; there's no other option.

Outside, Sister Megan witnesses a mysterious figure wandering out in the desert wearing a black coat.
5. A souvenir snowglobe on the motel's front desk depicts which unexpected thing?

Answer: 'The Last Supper'

As Sister Megan calls for Lois, an unexpected car crash out at the road-- two cars colliding head-on next to the parking lot-- pulls her attention. She goes to help, passing an ongoing argument between Nick and Andrea in her tunnel-vision, but her attention is pulled again when she finds Nick repeatedly dunking Andrea's head into the pool. As Andrea breaks free, she tells Megan that she's just going to make it worse by being there.

Sister Megan finds Lois still in the motel room, but Lois is occupied by a lost signal on her phone. Worse, Sister Megan's phone is dead. With that, Lois heads to the office to ask to use theirs, and she comes across Andrea behind the counter, still soaking from the fight. Unfortunately, that phone doesn't work either.

To Lois' surprise, the snowglobe on the front desk depicts 'The Last Supper'-- a concerning coincidence. But that's less shocking that the gunshots that ring out, smashing the souvenir and sending Lois rushing back to the motel room for her weapons.
6. Who gets shot at the motel?

Answer: Sister Megan

Lois and Sister Megan hide out in their motel room bathroom while Lois loads her shotgun, and while Sister Megan tries to pray, Lois asks her to stop, finding it's not helping. Both of them agree that a dark energy has been following them all day.

After the two of them argue, Lois suggests that they wait until nighttime to make their move to escape. They're interrupted, however, by the sound of arguing on the other side of the bathroom door-- Nick and Andrea are fighting on the other side of the wall.

Lois and Megan head to their door to attempt to diffuse the situation, but while Nick and hotel worker Andrea fight, the bloodsoaked Andrea reappears, inserting herself into the argument and falling to her knees. The ordeal spirals out of control as a vehicle pulls up and the man in the dark coat emerges, picks up the latter Andrea, and carries her to his car. While Nick and Lois fire their weapons at the man, Sister Megan emerges to intervene and it's because of this that she gets shot.
7. One of the suspects that Police Chief Hanover believes may be responsible for the killings is Glorious McKall. What makes this a viable option?

Answer: They were let out of prison two months ago

Lois and Sister Megan ride back into town in the back of an ambulance and Megan is brought into the same hospital as Marshall. Lois, waiting by her bedside, is there when Father Charlie stops in with a bouquet of flowers. He's ultimately quite curious as to what unfolded and ends up questioning why Megan was with her in the desert. It's a bit of a blame game; Father Charlie asked her to cover the murders in the first place.

As for who shot Megan, it's a mystery, though Lois thinks that they did it on purpose to get to Lois. The priest believes that, with this in mind, the detective used her as bait. He says he'll stay in the hospital and watch over the nun. In the meantime, she can hunt down the shooter.

Lois is intercepted by her boss first, and the chief has already run the data on the most likely suspects coming to attack Lois in vengeance for past cases. One of these suspects, Glorious McKall, comes up as a red flag, and most interestingly, she's been out of prison for two months.
8. Another crime scene is identified, this one connected to a local church. What location is it?

Answer: A maternity house

Lois awakens on the floor of her bedroom. Although a thunderstorm rolls by outside and flashing police lights go by, it's her phone that wakes her up, calling her to another crime scene. She pulls up to a local maternity house in the rain. It's yet another grisly tableau that she comes across. This time, three pregnant women lay in beds, each opened with c-section retractors and bled out. Their babies are nowhere to be found. An investigator on the scene claims that it's good caesarian work; they would have lived had the killer closed them up.

On the wall, written in legible blood, is a riff on Matthew 8:22: "Follow me, [Detective Tryon], and let the dead bury the dead."
9. The state governor requests that who of these take over the case, in lieu of the issues being experienced by Lois' team?

Answer: The FBI

Lois reasons that the killer waited until she was out of town to perform the next murders, and her colleagues agree. Worse, the governor has reached out to the FBI to hand over the case. In all likelihood, Detective Lowe is likely to be asked to retire in the next day. The news believes that the case is too much for them to handle, and Lois is clearly being taunted. Nonetheless, Lois believes that the killer wants her to hunt them.

She asks Sergeant Cranburn to look at all camera options within a three mile radius-- there has to be a hit on one of them to lead them in the right direction. Fortunately, there is a thread to pull, but it's nowhere near the maternity house.

Lois is driven out to the outskirts of town for this lead and, as it seems, a group of three children are home alone. The officer checking in explains that the eldest girl knocked on the neighbours' door. A man stopped by the night before, their mother went with them and never came back. Her whereabouts are unknown.
10. Lois, driving through the fields outside of town, finds a woman holding which of these out amongst the lemon trees?

Answer: A newborn

Lois questions the children of the missing mother and finds that there could very well be a connection between her case and what's happening with this family. The eldest daughter tells Lois that it's not just about getting their mother back, but Clancy, the baby boy she's pregnant with. Lois promises she'll get both of them home as fast as possible.

Lois asks about the man that came and took their mother, but the girl cringes in fear over having to recall. She departs with this new info and drives back to town through the local fields.

Lois' drive is interrupted when a broken-down car blocks her route home; both the driver's side and passenger side door are wide open, and the hood, open as well, reveals steaming contents. Out in the field, under a grove of lemon trees, a dishevelled woman holds a newborn baby in a newspaper. The woman begs Lois to get the baby to a hospital and, as it begins to cry, the woman screams that "he's coming".
