5. Chakotay

Answer: USS Voyager (NCC-74656)

Chakotay had a complicated history. He was a Starfleet officer before resigning and joining the Maquis, a resistance group that fought against Cardassian oppression in the Demilitarized Zone that was once Federation territory, but ceded to Cardassian space.

After traversing the Badlands in an attempt to evade Cardassian ships, his Maquis ship, the Val Jean, was transported to the Delta Quadrant by the Caretaker, who was looking for a viable mate amongst its crew. He found none, so he further summoned USS Voyager, which was searching for the Val Jean in the Badlands.

In a battle with the Kazon, Chakotay used the Val Jean to ram a Kazon ship that was attacking Voyager and his ship. He had transported his crew to Voyager, and he himself was transported at the last second before hitting the Kazon ship. To protect the Ocampa from the Kazon, Captain Janeway destroyed the Caretaker's array so that the Kazon could not use its advanced technology. With both crews losing members when transported to the Delta Quadrant, it was decided to merge the two into a single crew - a Starfleet crew - which would journey back to the Alpha Quadrant, though it would take 70 years. Janeway made Chakotay her first officer with the rank of provisional commander. He remained at that post for the seven years that it eventually took Voyager to return to Earth.

After returning, he was absolved of his actions as a Maquis, and made a full captain in command of the USS Protostar. ("Star Trek: Prodigy")

Chakotay was portrayed by Robert Beltran. ("Star Trek: Voyager")

He was raised by a Ferengi marauder and con artist, DaiMon Nandi. Dal thought Nandi thought of him as a son. However, Nandi later sold him to The Diviner as a slave to work as a chimerium miner on his prison colony Tars Lamora.

While on Tars Lamora, he and his associates found USS Protostar (NX-76884), an abandoned Starfleet vessel with an experimental drive. They used this to escape Tars Lamora, taking as a hostage The Diviner's daughter, Gwyndala. Dal appointed himself to act as captain of the Protostar.

Dal R'el was voiced by Brett Gray. ("Star Trek: Prodigy")

Ransom eventually became captain of the Cerritos when Freeman was transferred to Starbase 80.

Jack Ransom was voiced by Jerry O'Connell. ("Star Trek: Lower Decks")

They, in turn, sold him to The Diviner and was put in the prison colony Tars Lamora. He eventually joined forces with Dal R'el and escaped Tars Lamora on the USS Protostar.

It ended up only taking seven when Admiral Janeway from 25 years in the future came back in time to guide Voyager to a Borg transwarp hub that delivered them back to Earth.

Kathryn Janeway was played by Kate Mulgrew. ("Star Trek: Voyager")
16. Leonard McCoy

Answer: USS Enterprise (NCC-1701)

Lieutenant Commander (later Admiral) Leonard McCoy was the chief medical officer aboard the USS Enterprise under Captain Kirk.

As admiral, he performed an inspection of the newly-active USS Enterprise-D. He still hated using transporters and was instead shuttled to the USS Hood when he was finished. ("Star Trek: The Next Generation" episode "Encounter at Farpoint")

McCoy was portrayed by DeForest Kelley. ("Star Trek")
17. Pavel Chekov

Answer: USS Enterprise (NCC-1701)

Ensign (later commander) Pavel Chekov served on the USS Enterprise as navigator.

There is a controversy concerning Chekov. In the movie "Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan", Chekov recognized the remnants of the SS Botany Bay on what he thought was Ceti Alpha VI. But it turns out that the planet was in fact Ceti Alpha V. (An explosion 15 years prior devastated Ceti Alpha V and made it change its orbit so that it was now the sixth planet in the system.) He rushed Captain Terrell and himself out of the Botany Bay, only to be caught by Khan Noonian Singh and his compatriots. Khan recognized Chekov from the USS Enterprise.

The appearance of Khan in "Star Trek" was the first season episode "Space Seed". Chekov didn't appear on "Star Trek" until the second season episode "Catspaw". However, the stardates that were stated in each of these episodes were 3142.3 and 3018.2, respectively. Therefore, "Catspaw" occurred before "Space Seed", allowing Chekov to have been among the crew when Khan and his crew temporarily took over the USS Enterprise.

Chekov was portrayed by Walter Koenig. ("Star Trek")
18. Ensign Rivers

Answer: USS Enterprise (NX-01)

Ensign Rivers was an engineering officer who served aboard the USS Enterprise (NX-01) and later aboard the USS Columbia (NX-02).

19. Rok-Tahk

Answer: USS Protostar (NX-76884)

Rok-Tahk, referred to as Rok, was a Brikarian youth who was part of a slave show, where she played "The Monster" because of her appearance. When she grew tired of always losing to "The Hero", she improvised and tried to play the hero. This didn't go well with her boss, so she was sold to a Kazon slaver, and eventually was bought by The Diviner to work at his Tars Lamora prison colony. She accompanied Dal R'el when they found the USS Protostar. It was here that it was discovered that she was actually a young female when the universal translator gave her a diminutive female voice. Her love of science made her the de facto science officer among the group of youth that were piloting the Protostar.

Rok-Tahk was voiced by Rylee Alazraqui. ("Star Trek: Prodigy")
20. Samantha Wildman

Answer: USS Voyager (NCC-74656)

Lieutenant j.g. (later Ensign then back to LTJG) Tom Paris was initially a consultant for Captain Janeway when she took the USS Voyager to the Badlands to look for her undercover officer Tuvok, who was aboard a Maquis vessel. Voyager was seized by The Caretaker and brought to the Delta Quadrant, just as the Maquis ship Val Jean had been. Several personnel on both ships were killed in this seizure, including Lt. Stadi, the helmsman. So Janeway gave Paris a field commission to lieutenant junior grade and assigned him to be a helmsman. He also served as a medic, since he had some training in that field, and their EMH was initially restricted to Sick Bay.

Paris was portrayed by Robert Duncan McNeill. ("Star Trek: Voyager")

Subcommander T'Pol was a science officer from Vulcan. When Starfleet (pre-Federation) was ready to explore the galaxy further with their new warp-5-capable starship USS Enterprise (NX-01), they needed star charts to go through regions that the Vulcans had explored. So in exchange for those star charts, Subcommander T'Pol was assigned to the position of executive officer and science officer aboard the Enterprise, under Captain Jonathan Archer.
