"Donkey Kong Bananza" - Forest Layer Quiz

A dense forest awaits on the 600-series Sublayers, and while the locals are hospitable (or at least trying to be), the Forest Layer itself is plagued with some bad, new additions. "Donkey Kong Bananza" is on the Nintendo Switch 2. Good luck!

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Dropping into Forest Layer will leave DK in what location?

Answer: Beaky Thicket

Descending into the Forest Layer all the way from up on Sublayer 400 (The Divide), DK will plunk down on Sublayer 600 on the path that starts in the Beaky Thicket, a densely-forested area where he'll meet with the earliest of the region's locals-- Ostriches, as it would seem.

The locals will indicate that VoidCo has already come through, and their influence has resulted in a wicked thorn infestation (amongst other things) that are really making the Layer less and less enticing for tourists. If there's one thing we know, it's that Void Company isn't particularly good for industry.
2. Which of these will be found flooding the entirety of the Forest Layer when DK arrives?

Answer: Poison

If you visited Freezer Layer before Forest Layer, you would likely already have awareness of this environmental hazard in a different form. Just like with the freezing water there, dipping into the poison pools that surround much of the Forest Layer's islands and landmasses will cause DK to gradually lose health, so you need to be cautious and light on your feet to avoid taking too much damage.

The poison, as the locals note, is another negative side-effect of VoidCo's influence on the area. Fortunately, DK can fix this.
3. Can Munchoids be destroyed?

Answer: Yes

A new foe encountered for the first time in this Layer, Munchoids extend outwards from a distinct source and pull themselves along a path to follow DK and chomp down. The catch is that they also have the ability to eat away at any material in front of them-- even the hardiest of metal surfaces.

While this seems like it would be devastating for DK, he can actually fight back by hitting at a Munchoid's less-protected body segments.
4. Which of these does amenities can be found inside the Eggshell Hotel?

Answer: Pool

Visible from most vantage points on Sublayer 500, the Eggshell Hotel is the key destination that DK will need to reach to kick off the adventure in Forest Layer. This golden, egg-shaped hotel is the main tourist draw for the region and the place of employment for most of the ostriches that live there. Passing through Bellhop Burb and up along the treetops that lead to the Hotel, DK will eventually gain entry to a lobby and the workers within who, despite the ongoing crisis, will note that the accommodation contains a relaxing pool (affected by poison) and a ground floor garden (normally a refreshing sanctuary, but now covered in bramble).

It's a bad time for a reservation.
5. The Ostrich Elder and manager of the Eggshell Hotel will provide the Ostrich Bananza, which gives DK the power to do which of these?

Answer: Fly

The Ostrich Elder, formerly the manager of the ten-star Eggshell Hotel, will be very frustrated by the time DK and Pauline arrive, indicating that VoidCo threatens to drop their hospitality rating to nine-star (gasp!). The catch is that the Elder is also an aspiring DJ in his later years (who isn't?), so collecting the pieces of the Ancient Record found near the pool and in the garden of the Eggshell Hotel will help you along, allowing you to gain the Ostrich Bananza, learn how to fly, and send you onward to find Grumpy Kong and Void Kong, the alleged VIPs from the surface responsible for all of this.
6. All the Fossils found in the Forest Layer have what in common?

Answer: They're animals

While previous Layers have featured Fossils of varying type and origin, the Forest Layer specifically presents three different animals that can be collected, all of which may be familiar to "Donkey Kong" platformer players of yesteryear. Beavers are the most common, Pigs come next, and then there's a massive Spider Fossil found in Rubbery Roost on Sublayer 501.

The Spider, one may note, looks just like former Animal Buddy Squitter the Spider from "Donkey Kong Country 2".
7. How many poison plants need to be destroyed in Mossplume Marsh to clear the flood?

Answer: Three

Destroying the Void Spike next to the Eggshell Hotel will create passage to Sublayer 601 and lead DK to Mossplume Marsh, a region that hides much of its secrets below the surface of a lake of poison. Here, locals will point to the problem-- a trio of poison-spewing plants atop three platforms across the marsh.

As DK makes his way around here using the Ostrich Bananza, he'll be able to destroy all three and drop the water level in the marsh, accessing otherwise inaccessible islands in and around the Eggshell Hotel Annex.
8. Rubbery Roost, found on Sublayer 601, contains a springy substance that allows DK to bounce. What colour is this substance?

Answer: Blue

A particularly odd material in a game focused on destroying all manner of matter, Rubbery Roost is the first spot at which DK will encounter a bouncy, blue substance that might cause concern, particularly because there's no way to gain purchase or stability on it. Part of the objective with this bouncy surface will be to find a way to make do without that certainty, and this might mean making use of the Ostrich Bananza to float over it as much as possible.
9. What boss waits for DK at the end of Bramblenest Bog?

Answer: Abracajabya

Arriving on Sublayer 602, DK will be pointed across the poison-filled, thorn-covered bog to where the Sinkhole is, and there, he'll be able to face off against the scourge placed there by VoidCo. Once he and Pauline get into the bramble thicket they'll encounter Abracajabya, a foe that takes root on a bunch of fast-growing plants and traverses the bog with ease. To get up close, DK will ideally transform into the Ostrich Bananza, but he can also simply navigate the created vine paths and climb up to swat at the boss' weak spot. Defeating it will restore the area to its safer form and grant access to the next Sinkhole.
10. Completion of either Freezer Layer or Forest Layer will drop DK and Pauline off in which location found at Sublayer 700?

Answer: The Junction

On Sublayer 401, Donkey Kong was presented with choice between visiting Freezer Layer on Sublayer 500 or Forest Layer on Sublayer 600, and completing either one would bring him to The Junction on Sublayer 700 to hit a road block. Clearing out those respective Layers would give access to be able to wipe away the void plaguing this intermediary area, but the inevitable would need to happen and DK would need to double back to the Layer he hadn't cleared to finish the job. Once this is done, the way will be cleared to a fight with Void Kong at Clash Point...and that fight will send DK all around the underground.
