Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. A number of optional bosses found throughout the game are empowered versions of existing enemies. These are presented with which adjective in their name?

Answer: Chromatic

Most enemies in the game appear in a single Chromatic form at some point or another, sometimes in regions of the Continent that seem a little bit unexpected considering their general whereabouts, and while none of these foes are mandatory for story progression, it is often worthwhile to engage with them. What you'll find in these fights is that the normal enemies have gotten a significant upgrade, often being built up with harder hits, more complex combos, and stronger defences that will require you to give it your all at higher levels.

The rewards are, likewise, significant.
2. In addition to eating your party members, Bourgeon also shoots off which of these projectiles?

Answer: Miasma

The first time you're likely to encounter the Bourgeon is in Flying Waters, and while it may appear to be a fearsome creature on first sight due to its hulking stature, it can and does get a bit worse as the game goes on, because it is a recurring foe all around the Continent. In addition to periodically eating your party members, removing them from the battle completely until it's dead, this boss will hit with heavy combos and fire Miasma blasts at anyone remaining in the fight, giving them the Exhuasted status effect, making them unable to regain AP for a short time.

The Bourgeon will also drop Bourgeon Skin, and if you give that over to the The Small Bourgeon in Act 1, he'll give you a reward for helping out.
3. The 'chef' of the Gestral Village will fight party members one-on-one if they ask. What is their name?

Answer: Golgra

There are a lot of friendly faces in "Expedition 33", and you'll almost always be given the option to fight the kind faces or surprisingly nice nevrons that appear in your adventure. Golgra is one of those, and while it appears that she's kind enough to help the party on their way towards Esquie in Act 1, you can technically fight her at any time after that initial visit, partaking in a one-on-one arena battle as gestrals do.

Golgra, at least in the Gestral Village, is one of the tougher foes in the game as-is, and it would be recommended not to tackle the fight until late in the game since she has enormous amounts of health and strong attacks. If she is beaten, she'll award the party member she fights with a very strong weapon. Maelle's, named Medalum, is one of the strongest in the game.
4. Grosse Tete's only form of attack is which of the following?

Answer: Bounce

Grosse Tete, which translates to 'Big Head', is pretty much exactly what it says on the tin. Appearing in front of the optional area known as the Coastal Cave, Grosse Tete is completely optional to face, and if you're interested in going (give a reluctant sigh) head-to-head, you'll find an enemy with only one attack, and that is so simply bounce on your party members until they're dead. What this means is that, by-and-large, the Grosse Tete fight is a Parry test.

It would take about one hundred fifty correctly-hit Parry attacks to finish this fight if you never got a chance to hit back otherwise. If defeated, it drops the invaluable Warming Up Picto.
5. Which is NOT a boss encountered on the Continent map?

Answer: Scavenger

Scavenger is an optional boss who only appears in Act 2's Falling Leaves side-area, and to reach it you need to talk to the Lady of Sap and climb up to the peak of this location for the fight. It's a tough fight if you don't use Light-based damage, but it will reward you with a weapon for lune that creates Dark stains.

The other three foes are on the Continent map with Sprong and Sepenphare appearing in and over the waters of the sea (and being extremely powerful) and the Frost Évêque being just one variation of the game's first boss (originally found in Spring Meadows). Frost Évêque is found north of the Stone Quarry and Thunder Évêque is near Stone Wave Cliffs Cave. There's also a Flame Évêque and a Chromatic Évêque, but neither are on the Continent map.
6. What power does Gargant absorb when he's in his Ice Stance?

Answer: Ice

There are a few Gargants in the game, and one of those is located in a mandatory quest area, but whether or not you choose to fight it is up to you since Gargant generally can't move its body from its spot on the ground. You'd be likely to face it if you went to the Frozen Hearts optional area though as it's fought in the large arena there.

Like the Stalact, the Gargant flips its Stances between Fire and Ice, and this means you'll need to be careful to strike it only with the opposing element to ensure damage isn't re-absorbed as health. Gargant will drop Resplendent Chroma Catalysts and Chroma when defeated, but nothing in the way of weapons or Pictos.
7. Taking too long to defeat the Giant Sapling will result in which of these consequences?

Answer: Being crushed in a trap

Found in the Crushing Caves, the Giant Sapling appears to live underground in a trap designed to squish Expeditions (or any unwary travellers) between two massive walls. Expedition 33 may stumble into his lair by diving into the cavern here, and it'll lead to a brief fight-- brief because you only, technically, have seven rounds of combat to finish it.

The fight is, by-and-large, a DPS check that requires you to drop all of the Giant Sapling's health, and occasionally, it'll fight back by Exhausting the party or by propping itself up with Shield. Beating this boss will net you a Picto, a Colour of Lumina, and an Expedition Journal from one of the trap's earlier victims.
8. The battle against Alicia at The Reacher will be fought by which solo Expedition member?

Answer: Maelle

Found at the top of the mountain next to the Monolith, the facsimile of Alicia Dessendre is little more than a creation of the Paintress, but her motivation of cautiously supporting the created Renoir's efforts in the Canvas is still apparent. When the Expedition reaches her as part of Maelle's relationship quest, the fight against her, held inside the peak of The Reacher, will be a one-on-one battle in which only one can emerge victorious despite the two using the same techniques. Completing this fight will allow you to complete the ranks of Maelle's relationship and unlock her final Gradient Attack.
9. Clea, when fought in the Flying Manor, uses Nevrons to battle. If you miss a single parry, she'll do which of the following?

Answer: Heal

Found in one of the later endgame locations, the Flying Manor, the Clea fight is one that should only be approached when you're nearing your maximum level on items, Pictos, and character stats because not only is the road to the fight littered with enhanced boss battles, but Clea herself, the last of the Dessendres to make an appearance in the Canvas, is one of the most difficult foes of all, capable of summoning Nevrons to do her bidding for her.

The real problem is that if you're unable to parry all of her Nevrons' attacks, Clea will heal significantly, prolonging the battle, so this will turn out to be a test of your ability to handle different move sets to perfection.
10. First found as a boss in Renoir's Drafts, who appears as the final foe in the Endless Tower after the 'Thank You Update' DLC release?

Answer: Simon

A member of Expedition Zero, Simon was once a friend of both Verso and Clea, but after the early events in the Canvas, he became a fearsome, fallen fighter left to languish in Renoir's Drafts, one of the latest areas of the game. His fight there is one of the toughest in the game with the most complex combos, hardest skills to overcome, and most resilient defences of any boss.

Naturally, he reappears as Simon the Divergent Star in the Endless Tower's last string of battles, capping off the endgame in terms of difficulty.
