Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What movie involves a friendly alien who enjoys eating Reeses Pieces?

Answer: E.T.

"E.T." was directed by Steven Spielberg, and he noted it as one of his greatest movie achievements of all time. "E.T." was released in 1982, and again in 1985, with restored graphics, and yet again in 2002, with even better graphics! "E.T." has become known as the alien who loves Reeses Pieces. Reeses Pieces are a cross between the Reeses Peanut Butter Cup and M & Ms. It is a ball of peanut butter filling with a hard candy coating over it.

In 1982, "E.T." became the "most financially successful movie of its time," even beating out "Star Wars!"
2. Mel Stuart directed this movie, starring Gene Wilder, about an entire world of candy creations. What is the name of this movie?

Answer: Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory

"Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" was a 1971 movie based on a 1964 novel, "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory," by Roald Dahl. The catchphrase for the movie is "It's Scrumdidilyumptious!" Everything in the chocolate factory was made of some sort of candy.

The grass was edible, the flowers were edible, a river was made of chocolate milk, and you could lick the wallpaper! Sounds like a dream come true for many candy and chocoholics!
3. In what movie do we find Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans?

Answer: Harry Potter movies

Harry Potter is the main character in a series of seven books by J. K. Rowling, with the first, "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone" written in 1995. 7. "The Chocolate Touch" is a children's book written by whom?

Patrick Catling wrote "The Chocolate Touch" about a boy who turned whatever he touched into chocolate. The book was written in 1952. There has been since then several books, movies, and TV shows based off of the King Midas myth, including the hit show, "Pushing Daisies," where the main character could touch any dead body to make them come to life, and touch them again to make them die again.
8. In what TV show did Lucy and Ethel work at a candy line when they switched jobs with their husbands?

Answer: I Love Lucy

Lucille Ball starred in the TV show "I Love Lucy," that ran from 1951 to 1957, and again in 1957 to 1960, many episodes being shown in color. In the episode where Lucy and Ethel get a job at a candy shop, called "Job Switching," their job is simple. They must wrap every piece of candy one by one.

The candy is coming from a conveyor belt, and they must not let a single piece get through. They start having difficulty, but find silly ways of getting rid of the candy. When the boss comes in and sees that they are "doing good," she speeds up the line.

This worries the two women, and in desperation they begin stuffing candy in their mouths, shirts, and hats, and even throw some up toward the ceiling the get them to stick. If they were to let one piece of candy through unwrapped, they would be fired.

They did not want to be fired, because they were trying to prove to their husbands that women can get out there and get/maintain a job just as well as any man. Meanwhile, the men had to do housework, including something they were terrible at; cooking.
