Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. At the inaugural "Survivor Series" there was a women's bout. Who was the last participant eliminated by The Jumping Bomb Angels?

Answer: Judy Martin

The first inaugural "Survivor Series" was held in Richfield, Ohio. It was on November 26, 1987 at the Richfield Coliseum. The women's bout was the second on the card. The Fabulous Moolah was captain for her team which included Rockin' Robin, Velvet McIntyre, and The Jumping Bomb Angels. The opposing team was captained by the WWF Women's Champion, Sherri Martel. Her team included The Glamour Girls, Dawn Marie, and Donna Christianello.

This was an amazing filled with a great deal of aerial maneuvers thanks to The Jumping Bomb Angels and Velvet McIntyre. The Jumping Bomb Angels were the last of Fabulous Moolah's team. They eliminated Judy Martin to claim the victory. Judy Martin and Leilani Kai were the reigning WWF Women's Tag Team Champions during the "Survivor Series". They held the title 1157 days combined with their two reigns. Their first reign was ended by The Jumping Bomb Angels at the "Royal Rumble" held on January 24, 1988. They would regain the belts from The Jumping Bomb Angels a little over six months later to start their second reign.
2. Before Sensational Sherri moved to the then WWF, she was the AWA Women's Champion. Who did she defeat to capture the championship?

Answer: Candi Divine

Sherri Martel was a three time AWA Women's Champion. She defeated Candi Divine at "Superclash" for her first reign. The bout was held on September 28, 1985 in Chicago, Illinois. "Superclash" was the AWA Pay Per View meant to rival the inaugural "WrestleMania". Candi had held the title for well over nine months before she was defeated by Sherri. The two women would battle over the title until Sherri left for the WWF in 1987. Candi held the AWA Women's Title on four separate occasions. She was the last wrestler to hold the title as the AWA closed down in 1991.

Candace Maria Rummel was born January 1, 1959. Her sister, Rose Divine was also a professional wrestler. Candi held titles in several different wrestling organizations until she retired. Candi was the first UWF Women's Champion having defeated Rockin' Robin for the title. Candi was extremely aggressive in her bouts especially against Sherri. She was definitely a gifted performer inside the squared circle.
3. "Pro Wrestling Illustrated" handed out achievement awards on an annual basis. Who won the Rookie of the Year Award in 1988?

Answer: Madusa Miceli

Madusa defeated the likes of Chris Benoit, Scott Steiner, and Maxx Payne to be the recipient of this award. Madusa was a truly amazing and gifted performer in the ring. Only one other women had achieved her height of popularity, Wendi Richter. Madusa started her career in Verne Gagne's AWA. She held the AWA Women's Championship on one occasion. She was defeated by former WWF Women's Champion, Wendi Richter on November of 1988. She held the title about one month shy of a year.

Madusa would sign with the WWF in 1993. She was then called Alundra Blayze and held the WWF Women's Title on three occasions. She would leave the WWF for the WCW two years later. In one of the most shocking displays seen on wrestling programming, she dumped the WWF Women's Championship in the trash can on live television. Madusa would not appear at any WWF/WWE event for twenty years as they had blacklisted her. Madusa was inducted into the 2015 "Hall of Fame" by Natalie Neidhart.
4. Wendi Richter at one point was as popular as then WWF World Heavyweight Champion, Hulk Hogan. What controversial decision caused her to depart the WWF?

Answer: Wendi was cheated out of her title when the referee made an extremely quick three count.

Wendi was scheduled to defend her WWF Women's Championship against the Spider Lady. The bout took place at Madison Square Garden on November 25, 1985. Wendi was cheated out of her title by a fast three count. It was revealed the Spider Lady was The Fabulous Moolah. Moolah was brought in when Wendi reportedly would not sign a new contract. According to Wendi, she was still under her original five year contract. Wendi had been having issues with pay with owner, Vince McMahon. She believed she was due more compensation because of her popularity after the original "WrestleMania". The incident has become known as "The Original Screwjob".

Wendi was on the cover of "Pro Wrestling Illustrated" in 1985. The cover headline asked if she was more popular than Hulk Hogan. Wendi was a great wrestler and was indeed very popular. I remember seeing this bout and thinking what was going on. I thought it was a setup for a feud between Moolah and Richter. Wendi never spoke to Moolah again.
5. Factions are a common occurrence in wrestling's history. What was a uncommon was for a group of women to form a faction. Who was the third person to complete the faction of Terri Runnels and Ryan Shamrock collectively known as Pretty Mean Sisters?

Answer: Jacqueline

The trio united in November of 1998. Their name is of course a play of PMS (post menstrual syndrome). The women terrorized the male wrestlers of the WWF. The most notable was their slave Meat. Meat was actually Shawn Stasiak. They would often humiliate Meat during his matches and causing him to loss. The trio would disband in 1999 as tensions rose between the members.

Jacqueline would begin her career in Fritz Von Erich's World Class Championship Wrestling. In 1998, she moved to the WWF and managed Marc Mero. Mero was formerly known as Johnny B Badd in WCW. Jacqueline would hold the WWF Women's Championship on two occasions before leaving the company. Jacqueline truly was a gift athlete and to watch her perform was amazing. Like many of the female performers of this time I think she deserved more of a push.
6. Nicole Bass was a professional bodybuilder. In what promotion did Nicole begin her wrestling career?

Answer: ECW

Bass would get her break into wrestling with Paul Heyman's Extreme Championship Wrestling. She would quickly join Justin Credible in his feud with Tommy Dreamer and Mickey Whipwreck. Bass would join the WWF as the bodyguard for Sable after she left ECW. Bass's WWF debut was during Wrestlemania 15. Bass would be involved in feuds with Debra McMichael during her short tenure in WWF.

It seemed just as quickly as she appeared she was gone that quick too. Bass also had a great angle with Val Venis. She was only with the company a short period of time, but I enjoyed her performances. Bass sadly passed away in 2017 from complications due to a stroke.
7. Wrestlers would often change the physical appearance. In what promotion did Luna Vachon shave the one side of her head bald?

Answer: Florida Championship Wrestling

Luna debuted in Florida Championship Wrestling in 1985. She however was not known as Luna at the time of her debut. She was portrayed as a shy soft spoken reporter. Throughout several interactions with Kevin Sullivan and his faction, Trudy as Luna was known at the time was driven crazy. Shortly after she would join Kevin's Army of Darkness. She would change her name to Luna Vachon. Luna would shave one side of her head and this would be the first step to her iconic hair style, the mohawk. Luna along with fellow Army of Darkness wrestler, Bob Roop would both shave their heads. Bob would go one step further though he not shaved half his head, but his face too. Bob was known as Maya Singh in the FCW.

Florida Championship Wrestling was operated from 1961 until 1987. It was operated by Eddie Graham. The territory was one of my favorites to watch as a child. It had the best wrestlers including my all time favorite, Barry Windham. Dusty Rhodes and Blackjack Mulligan were also staples on the program.
8. Many professional wrestlers both male and female perform under different names. Can you tell me who Patty Seymour was better known as?

Answer: Leilani Kai

Leilani Kai was not only a WWF Women's Champion, but an NWA Women's Champion as well. She defeated the talented Wendi Richter in 1985 for the WWF Women's Championship. Wendi would begin her second reign as champion at the inaugural Wrestlemania. Leilani was accompanied to the ring by her trainer and former Women's Champion, Mary Ellison. Mary was of course better known as The Fabulous Moolah. Wendi was accompanied by pop superstar, Cyndi Lauper. This was one of the most hyped matches in history. It was my favorite match on the card. I always felt like Leilani did receive her fair share of the recognition for this bout.

Patty Seymour was born on January 23rd, 1960. Besides her two single reigns as WWF and NWA Women's Champion, she has held several tag titles too. Patty along with her partner Judy Martin collectively known as The Glamour Girls were two time WWF Women's Tag Team Champions. The duo was managed by my all time favorite manager, Jimmy "The Mouth of the South" Hart.
9. Chyna was one tough competitor in and outside the ring. Who trained Chyna to be a professional wrestler?

Answer: Killer Kowalski

Chyna was born December 27, 1969. Her birthname was Joan Marie Laurer. She would train with Kowalski at his school in Malden, Massachusetts. Chyna was brought into the WWF by Shawn Michaels and Triple H as a bodyguard. Chyna would work primarily with Triple H until the formation of Degeneration X.

She would not hesitate to get physically with the pairs opponents. She would often dish out low blows while the referee was not looking. Laurer was a key part of the success of DX. She would go onto win the Intercontinental Championship not once but twice.

She would be co-holders of the title with Chris Jericho during one of her reigns. Chyna was one of the most popular talents of the Attitude Era. She would come out with this large gun that shot fireworks during her entrance. Truly one of my all-time favorite performers.
10. Who was the valet to "Superbrat" Tully Blanchard?

Answer: Baby Doll

Baby Doll started her career in World Class Championship Wrestling as the manager of "Gorgeous" Gino Hernandez. She was often seen as arm candy for Hernandez during his vignettes. Baby Doll would be signed to Jim Crockett's promotion after she was seen by Tully Blanchard and Dusty Rhodes at a Florida wrestling show.

Much like her role with Hernandez, Baby Doll was the manager for Blanchard. She added him in his feuds against Rhodes and Magnum T.A. In one of their most memorable bouts, Tully and Magnum were battling over the United States Heavyweight Championship. Baby Doll could be seen and heard screaming outside the ring during the bout.

She was unable to interfere because it was a steel cage match. The bout was held at Starrcade '85.
