The Greek name for Riptide is Anaklusmos. When Riptide is not in use it disguises itself as a ballpoint pen. Also, if Percy loses it, the sword/pen will always comes back to him.

A Naiad is a type of nymph that hangs around fountains, wells and other small bodies of water. A siren is a sea creature who lives on an island called Sirenum Scopuli.

As you progress through the "Percy Jackson and the Olympians" series you realise that Poseidon, Percy's father, has always tried to make Percy somewhat "invisible" to him and always thinks of him as a mistake.

Thalia is a daughter of Zeus who died on the peak of Half Blood Hill while trying to defend Camp Half Blood. She died trying to save her two friends - Luke and Annabeth. Zeus, feeling great sorrow for his recently deceased child, made a tree enchanted by Thalia's soul.

This tree protected Camp Half Blood from any unwanted mythical creatures. She is resurrected near the end of "Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monsters".
