Answer: Lychee

The fruit lychee can either be pronounced lie-chee or lee-chee. It is a red fruit with a rough skin, and when you peel this away, you get soft white flesh inside which is sweet and juicy. The fruit can also be bought in cans from a shop, similar to pineapple, peach and mandarin.

The fruit can be eaten raw but most people prefer it when they are added as a flavouring to sweet and savoury food.
