Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Where can you find a maze that measures over three miles in length? I wonder if they greet you with an "aloha" at the entrance.

Answer: Oahu, Hawaii, USA

The Dole Plantation on Oahu, Hawaii created a maze that covers 137,194 square feet. This enormous maze is comprised of over 14,000 tropical native plants including hibiscus, croton, pineapple, heliconia and panax. There is a giant pineapple, made from croton plants marking the center of this maze.

The crown of the pineapple center is made up of agapanthus. Within the walls of this maze are eight secret stations where one must stencil each individual station's symbol onto a maze card. If one completes the task and returns to the maze entrance, he or she wins a prize. Having one's name recorded on a sign located at the entrance of the maze is another perk to finishing the maze.
2. This ten-acre maze can be found at Reignac-sur-Indre, France. Which type of flower is often used in the creation of this very large plant maze? I like the seeds!

Answer: Sunflower

This amazing plant maze is approximately ten acres in size. Sunflowers are sowed and used in the creation of this work of art. Sometimes sunflowers aren't used; corn is used instead. Whether it is corn or sunflowers, it is always strategically sewn and marked out to create a new maze each year. When this maze was first created in 1996 it was regarded as the world's largest maze.
3. Guides are required at this maze to help lost tourists solve the maze and find their way out. What is the name of the farm where you can find this maze which is located in Ronks, Pennsylvania, USA? My favorite flavor!

Answer: Cherry Crest Adventure Farm

Cherry Crest Adventure Farm in Ronks, Pennsylvania, USA not only provides hay rides and farm tours, but it also is proud of "The Amazing Maize Maze". This is a five-acre corn maze that includes more than two and a half miles of paths. Along the paths you will find scenic bridges, tunnel slides, watering stations and clues to help you find your way around.

Themes vary from year to year, with such past themes as Noah's Ark in 1998; Wild, Wild West in 2007; and Lost in Space in 2000.
4. What unusual feature is revealed in the enormous Longleat Maze in the UK? Do we need special glasses, with a red lens and a green lens, here?

Answer: Three dimensions

With 16,000 yew trees forming a spectacular hedge maze, the Longleat Maze covers 1.48 acres with almost two full miles of paths. There are wooden bridges built into the maze, revealing that the maze is three dimensional. This maze was first created in 1975 by Greg Bright.

The six wooden bridges give a glimpse of the center of the maze where there is an observation tower, provided the tourists can actually find the center of the maze. Longleat is situated in Warminster, Wiltshire, England.
5. Where is Australia's oldest maze? Not at all boar-ing.

Answer: Shoreham, Victoria

The Ashcombe Maze and Lavender Gardens are located in Shoreham, Victoria, Australia. This is where you can find Australia's oldest maze, which is over 30 years old. The Ashcombe Maze and Lavender Gardens' hedge maze is slightly higher than nine feet in height.

There are flags to guide you through the South Maze into the Center Garden. Afterward, there is the North Maze to tackle. The North Maze and the South Maze are very different from each other, so you can't use your skills from one maze in order to solve the next.

There are over 1000 Cypress plants in the maze which makes the maze bigger and bigger each year. When the hedges are trimmed, it can take up to a month to do the job since the gardeners have to move through the maze with the hedge trimmings to clean up.
6. During the reign of British King William III and Queen Mary II, this maze was created. Can you name the maze that was built in 1689? That's a heavy piece of pork!

Answer: Hampton Court Maze

Located within a 60 acre area of gardens, the maze has been mentioned by several authors including Defoe. Through the years the Hampton Court Maze has had different types of hedges, originally made with hornbeam.

The maze is located at the Hampton Court Palace in the Borough of Richmond upon Thames in London, England
7. The maze situated on the Island of Capri, Italy is an amazing work! What is it created out of? They need mortar with this.
