The Maine Guides, first affiliated with the Cleveland Indians and then the Philadelphia Phillies, played their home games at The Ball Park from 1984-1988. During their last season, they were known as the Maine Phillies. Maine went without a minor league baseball team from 1989 until 1994 when the Portland Sea Dogs started playing at Hadlock Field in Portland.

The Sea Dogs were the AA affiliate of the Florida Marlins when they first arrived in Portland. As of 2006, the Sea Dogs are the AA minor league team for the Boston Red Sox.
