Answer: Wilcannia

Edward Bulwer Lytton Dickens then worked for the Lands Department in Moree until his death in 1902. Wilcannia also had the first brewery in Australia, before this all beer was imported into the country.
2. The Victorian town of Stawell hosts one of the world's oldest footraces, the Stawell Gift. On what day of the year is this race always held?

Answer: Easter Monday

The Stawell Gift is held over 120 metres and currently offers prize money of {$30,000.} It began in 1878 for the entertainment of local miners.
3. Covering 95,000 sq km, this city in Western Australia is the largest city, by area, in Australia.

Answer: Kalgoorlie-Boulder

Kalgoorlie and Boulder are both centres of gold minings. Their town councils amalgamated in 1989 to create a massive city area with a population of a little over 30,000 people.

Daly Waters became a vital refuelling stop during the early days of aviation and later for refuelling bombers en route to the Dutch East Indies during World War Two. The airport closed in the 1970s when planes no longer needed refuelling on long haul journeys.

Answer: New South Wales

The island is 11km long and just 2km wide at its widest point. Lord Howe Island's bay protects the world's southern most coral reef and is also the native home of the popular Kentia Palm.
8. In which outback Queensland town was the first Royal Flying Doctor Service base established?

Answer: Cloncurry

John Flynn was the founder of this wonderful service. The first patient to be flown with the RFDS was a stockman injured at Julia Creek in 1928. I once required this service after a car accident and it truly is fantastic.

Answer: Albany

Albany pre-dated Perth by two and a half years and houses the largest whaling museum in the world, a fantastic claim to fame that all Albanians should be well pleased about.... well, it beats Pingrup that has the world's largest shearing handpiece.

Answer: Clunes

Clunes also has the southern hemisphere's largest public bottle collection with over 6,000 rare and interesting (well, it depends what you're into) bottles.
