Independence came in 1844 after they had rebelled against the Haitians: The 1 Peso coin was made of cupro-nickel. The Carribbean Games took place in 1974, where Cuba was the most successful nation winning 101 gold medals: 1 Peso and 30 Pesos gold coins were produced.

The Pueblo Viejo gold and silver mine is located in the center of the country near Cotui: 10 silver and 100 gold Pesos coins were minted.

Answer: German Democratic Republic

Beethoven's grandfather moved to Bonn in 1733, where Ludwig was born. He spent most of his life in Vienna, where he died in 1827: 10 Mark silver coin was created, it was the only one of the three that included the composer's head. Brahms was born in Hamburg and died in Vienna, his concert he gave in Leipzig in 1853 at the age of 20, was what persuaded two firms to publish his works: 5 Mark copper-nickel-zinc coin was issued. Bach was the only one of the three composers to be born in East Germany, he died in Leipzig: 25 Mark silver coin, with some music on one side, along with the dates 1685-1750.

Answer: Thailand

18 Countries competed in Asian Games in 1970, by contrast the last Games held in Bangkok in 1998 attracted 43 countries: cupro-nickel 1 Baht coin. The headquarters of the World Fellowship of Buddhists is located in Bangkok: 50 Baht silver coin was produced.

The Crown Prince was born on 28th July 1952 in Bangkok and on 28th December 1972 he was given the title "Somdech Phra Boroma Orasadhiraj Chao Fah Maha Vajiralongkorn Sayam Makutrajakuman" which made him heir to the throne: 1 Baht coin in cupro-nickel.

Answer: Israel

Israel was founded on May 14th 1948: Issued a 10 Pound silver and 100 Pound Coins. "Let My People Go" with text in Hebrew and English to support of freedom for the Jews of the then Soviet Union: Silver 10 Pound coin and a gold 100 Pound coin. Ben Gurion was born as David Grün in 1886 in Russian Poland, and became first Prime Minister of Israel, and died in 1973: Silver 25 Pound and gold 500 Pound coins were made.

Answer: Western Samoa

Dutch navigator Jacob Roggeveen was the first European to visit Samoa, named the archipelago the Baaumann Islands after the captain of one of his ships: 1 Tala in cupro-nickel. Western Samoa was one of 38 nations attending the British Commonwealth games in Auckland where Fautala Su'a and Vai Samu won bronzes medals in boxing, while Paul Wallwork did one better getting a weightlifting silver: 1 Tala in cupro-nickel and 1 Tala in silver wee struck. Of the 41 nations that won medals in the Montreal Olympics, none were won by Samoa: 1 Tala coins were made of both cupro-nickel and silver, as well as a 100 Tala gold coin.

Maria Sklodowska was born in Warsaw in 1867, and after marrying Pierre Curie discovered Radium and Polonium: Silver 100 Zloty coin issued 40 years after her death.

The XXXI International Eucharistic Congress was held in Bogotá in August 22-25, and was attended by Pope Paul VI: 5 Pesos cupro-nickel. The Bogotá gold museum owned by the Central Bank claims to have the largest collection of gold in the world: 1500 Pesos gold coin. Guillermo Valencia was a Colombian poet and statesman: Gold coins of 1000, 1500 and 2000 were made.

Answer: Norway

The Germans invaded in April 1940, when they were ruled by the notorious collaborator Vidkun Quisling until liberated in 1945: 25 Kroner silver coin. The Krone was introduced in 1875 as a result of monetary union, joining two years after Denmark and Sweden: 5 Kroner coin was minted in cupro-nickel. Cleng Peerson organized the first group of emigrants leaving from Stravanger aboard the "Restaurationen" bound for New York in 1825: Cupro-nickel 5 Kroner coin.

Answer: Switzerland

After the new constitution in 1874 people could vote for their government and vote on parliamentary bills. The Council of Europe declared 1975 "European Architectural Year" when many countries had initiatives for preserving historic monuments. In 1476 the Burgundians besieged Murten, and were beaten after a force from Zürich under Hans Waldmann, arrived and won the day on 22nd of June: All three coins were 5 francs and made of cupro-nickel.

Answer: Jamaica

Jamaica was claimed for the Spanish by Don Juan d'Esquivel in 1509, and taken by the British in 1655. Jamaica gained independence on 6th August 1962: 10 Dollar Silver coin. Sir Henry Morgan was a Welsh buccaneer, and as it says on the coins, became lieutenant-governor of Jamaica in 1674: Two 10 Dollar coins were made, one in cupro-nickel and another in silver.

The coin says that Columbus discovered Jamaica on 4th of May 1494, but he actually arrived at what we now call St Ann's Bay on the 5th: 10 Dollar silver and a 100 Dollar gold coins were minted.
