Silence is golden, though in this case it only brought Thomas More trouble. In the film, after spending time in the Tower of London, More finally went to trial. More was sentenced to death by beheading, an ironic death as Henry VIII would eventually sentence two of his wives to the same fate. But despite all his misfortunes, like any martyr, he still held to his convictions unto death.

The title of the film is a reference to Thomas More's convictions, as he stood by what he believed despite the storm around him.
