Vincent, who was an accident since twins were not expected, "got the leftovers" and was sent to an orphanage and ended up as a small-time crook. The movie is about how the twins find each other and eventually unite with their mother as well.

The characters Tweedledee and Tweedledum first appeared in 1951 in Disney's animated film "Alice in Wonderland" as two fat and playful twin brothers who finish each other's sentences.
