OMD stands for "Orchestral Manoeuvers in the Dark", and it is quite obvious why they decided to shorten the name. This band also did the song "If You Leave" which was featured on the "Pretty in Pink" soundtrack, a film written by John Hughes starring Molly Ringwald.

Kim Wilde did not release the song "Words", that song was released by Missing Persons. Kim Wilde however, did release a cover of the Diana Ross & The Supremes hit "Keep Me Hangin' On".
