Answer: Cannes

The competition was held in the Palais des Festivals et des Congres in Cannes, France. Built in 1949, it hosted the Cannes Film Festival until a newer building was completed in 1982.
2. Which country won the 1961 Eurovision Song Contest?

Answer: Luxembourg

Luxembourg won for the first time. Their entry, "Nous les amoureux" ("We the Lovers") was sung by Jean-Claude Pascal, who also had worked with Christian Dior designing costumes for the theatre and cinema.
3. The UK's 1961 entry was a song called "Are You Sure?". Who sang it?

Answer: The Allisons

The Allisons were a duo - Bob Day and John Alford. Their only hit song was the Eurovision entry, "Are You Sure?", which reached number two on the UK Singles Chart.

Tessa Beaumont and Max Bozzoni were ballet dancers. Max danced with the Paris Opera, then taught there. I am unable to find much on Beaumont, other than that Yves St Laurent created a costume for her.

Seven countries tied for three positions. Italy and Denmark tied for fifth place with twelve points each. Monaco, Finland and the Netherlands were in a three-way tie for tenth place, with six points each. Austria and Belgium vied for the bottom - fifteenth place, one point apiece.
