Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. According to Lennon and McCartney, the wielder of the "Silver Hammer" might well have been a direct blood relative of "The Wizard of Menlo Park", (the inventor of the phonograph alongside many other things). So, what was Maxwell's surname?

Answer: Edison

The lyrics in question are those of "Maxwell's Silver Hammer" penned by Lennon and McCartney, and the phrase which reveals his surname is "Maxwell Edison, majoring in medicine". I have read somewhere that the lyrics to this song are allegorical, and that the silver hammer in question is simply a metaphor for Maxwell's crushing wit. I can't quite buy that, and still think that he is in fact a homicidal maniac, as per his actions described in the lyrics. Thomas Edison was known as "The Wizard of Menlo Park", a fitting tribute to his ingenuity and inventions which were many and widely varied.

According to ZZ Top, "Every girl's crazy 'bout a sharp dressed man". 'Sharp Dressed Man' was written by Frank Beard, Billy Gibbons, Dusty Hill and appeared on the ZZ Top albums 'Eliminator' (1983) and 'Greatest Hits' (1992). We answered 'short bald man'.

But that's what happens when you don't know the answer and have to use the answer supplied by the wife of the short bald man at our table!

The sad story of Running Bear and Little White Dove - a Native American version of Romeo and Juliet - was written by Jiles Perry Richardson (The Big Bopper), and recorded by his friend, Johnny Preston, in 1958. Richardson, together with renowned country singer-songwriter George Jones and producer Bill Hall, provided the song's distinctive background vocals. The three songs listed as wrong answers also have a Native American theme: "Broken Arrow" is by Robbie Robertson, "Indian Sunset" by Elton John, and "Cheyenne Anthem" by Kansas.
